Here's a fun idea: let's use something liberals have forgotten. It's called "common sense." Remember how we deal with flu season every single year and don't lose our minds? Be smart. Wash your hands. Don't lick random things. If you're sick, stay home.
There are definitely ways to minimize risk without hurting the economy or setting up a government snitch-on-your-neighbors hotline.
It's that part about staying home--when I had to work for other people, across many settings, there were always little breakouts from people who had used up their sick leave, they needed the money, they wouldn't let the crew down, they weren't going to let a cold beat them, etc. Like they deserved some praise for making everyone else sick.
They deserved praise for working hard and fighting through adversity. If they made everyone else sick, it's their manager's fault for not making them go home when they were sick.
Most importantly, take fucking care of yourself. I rarely get more than a mild cough and stuffy nose once a year.
I also don't go overboard on sanitization. Exposure is GOOD for your immune system. An idle immune system not only begins causing autoimmune problems but it isn't ready when it encounters pathogens out in the world. Which is inevitable no matter how careful you are.
Lately it feels like conspiracy theory telling people this stuff about how I live and why.
