No real regrets; I like to teach my subject and the cost of living/pay ratio isn't bad, especially with time off and being the second income...but hearing tenured profs (and public teachers) piss and moan about only making 50-100K a year with full benefits gets a bit old sometimes. And since the union won't represent me, can I please get an opt out of paying those dues?

It's ok; I'm used to it. I am/was? an academic, an English major no less -- I didn't want to join my uncle's law firm nor work for an alphabet, so I went into teaching (and it gave me access and opportunity to keep studying during my lunch hours, which was an excellent recompense personally if not financially). But by today's standards I'm supposed to be like Professor Numbnuts here; I just refused to read the memo.
Heh, and stating that the "studies" were wrecking the English department was my "strike 3" professionally -- it ruffled some feathers, to put it lightly. So here I am, and here we all are...with English departments that no longer teach English...fml.

Pretty much; dead white women too: Jane Austen is no longer taught (a shame, she was a very talented writer). Heck, Gwendolyn Brooks, Gloria Naylor, and Zora Neal Hurston aren't really taught anymore either; Langston Hughes has been limited to maybe one poem; Derek Walcott? Who's that? Then again, a lot of the students can't read at that level anymore, so there's that.
Now, there are ways around a lot of it....I got away with saying "Maya Angelou sucks and I refuse to teach her crap" for about 10 years, but I made sure to fill my diversity quotient, so nobody could touch me (which was a joke: teach black writers during February; and teach Angelou -- how the fuck is that not kinda racist?). Now? Not as easy -- some departments give you a reading list to choose from and a syllabi blueprint you have to follow, especially for 100-200 level (where most adjuncts are at)...fml.

One big reason, and hear me out here, is because lots of Americans are just mutts. Since American nationalism has been supressed for decades, and most "white" Americans have no clear cut ethnic background, it's easy for the left to convince them to hate themselves and feel responsible for things like slavery or war against the natives.
Caucasians with clear heritage like Scots, Italians, Swedes, Spaniards, etc aren't usually like this. They're proud of their heritage, traditions, and homeland.
The average "mutt" doesn't have that, and most aren't even proud of their country. Most don't know our history. Ask them to name our great inventors or artists and most will fail miserably.
This is WHY we need American nationalism, because then everyone. can be proud of being Americans first. You promote and enrich a unified culture.
Russia is very similar in that Russians have tons of ethnic backgrounds and mixes, but Russian nationalism keeps them pretty much as unified people. Russia is kind of further ahead of us in term of ethnic minority mixing..we're going to be there but if we don't instill nationalism and America first then identity politics will continue to get worse.
This is the same exact issue in Mexico. The entire culture, structure of power, religion, come from European backgrounds, but people celebrate the revolutionary heroes instead forgetting they were all educated abroad and were mostly white. So Mexicans today glorify the cartels and urban culture instead of their actual ethnic backgrounds. They talk about new Atzlan even though most have a great (or at worst great great) grandparent who is blonde with blue eyes or they have a direct family lineage to Spain. There are only about 30000 actual pure indigenous people in Mexico and they are all near mentally retarded and impoverished. The Mexican Expats who come to the USA for a free meal ticket are the result of a country with NO nationalism. And that is why they grow up here, pretend they are black, but then play the Mexican card for social justice points. Why? No nationalism. No civic pride. No obligation to their home country or ours. No knowledge of their actual heritage. Tell a stereotypical Mexican a white person invented their favorite music or favorite traditional pastry and watch their heads implode.
Mexico is what we end up if the Democrats win.
Russia isn’t anywhere near ahead of us in terms of minority mixing. While they have had multicultural populations living within their borders for 1000 years, they clearly have a dominant white, Slavic 80% majority. Their demographic racial balance has stayed the same for decades now. The white, Slavic majority is clearly shown as the premier race of the country. Russian Slavs are shown in all commercials and magazines, etc. You do not see the government and corporations constantly promoting interbreeding among the races there. The reason why multiculturalism works in Russia is because it has a political strongman in charge and a clear understanding by the minority population about who runs the show. In Russia you actually have a government dedicated to preserving the status quo regarding Slavic dominance of the federation, and rightfully so.
In the USA the whites are set to become a minority in the lands their forefathers built by 2040. The founding fathers knew that multiculturalism was bound to fail so they codified into law that America was to be a nation for only those of European stock. I am of the firm belief that the Founders will be proven right in the coming decades because it is far too difficult to have a multicultural society without a clear ethnic majority of at least 80%. To do otherwise is to have way too many competing ethnic interests and thus interracial conflict, which is what we are seeing now in our country. Once the white population is reduced further through mass immigration the Republican Party will never again win elections as the new demographics will simply overwhelm them. In the USA you have a government (both parties) telling its majority population to embrace its transition into an ethnic minority while simultaneously telling them how much of a strength it is.
Therefore, we are much further ahead of Russia when it comes to the mass mixing of cultures because the white population here is already down to 60 percent and will soon be a minority in twenty years. On the other hand, Russia never lets their ethnic-balance go below 80 percent Slavic, and it would be absolutely unthinkable for Slavic Russians to allow themselves to become a minority in their motherland.
If the culture is really so anti-racist why has she not been fired for violation of ethics policy? Someone needs to write a letter to the school's board of directors and hold her accountable for her self-admitted racism.
