Even before COVID I noticed this a lot. There's been a gradual but undeniable shift from people talking about the government's duty to protect our liberties to people insisting the government's job is to protect our safety.
I've seen how the government takes care of people and I've decided I'm perfectly happy providing my own safety, thanks.
Back in the Reddit days I remember seeing people clutching pearls at the idea that rights come from God or are otherwise natural and inalienable, because they were worried about how you can't restrict rights if they're not granted by the government.
They don't realize that isn't a bug, that's the entire point.
Yes. Worst part is they don't realize you don't even have to believe in god to acknowledge that your rights are natural born and exist in the absence of and or presence of government. I have a right to defend my life. The government is supposed to only be there to reassure that I can exercise my rights without retribution from whomever.
There's no covenant amongst the people anymore. And I'm not speaking biblically. The foundations of a strong republic is that we are all in mutual agreement of fundamental principles. At this point that's not the case.
Daily I see cattle like mentality as if government is god. Get in this line, stand here, why should you own weapons, don't say that etc. We are morally bankrupt at this point as a country.
In a more pragmatic sense, it's this effect: Every person has a combination of the capability to fight (primarily men) and an influence towards people who can fight (which is rather the case for women). The reason why Democracy - to some degree - is valid is because in general more people beat less people.
Property is a concept we naturally recognize, and that also applies to animals. They understand concepts of ownership, theft and territory. Property can be understood even encompassing health and life (you own your body).
The reason why you can't simply infringe on other people's rights is because they will defend their rights. If you want to achieve any level of peace, society has to acknowledge these rights mutually. And because people (and animals) by default defend their rights, and they have natural, reasonable, ethical reasons to do so, and because it's embedded in our natural interactions with reality, as it is also arguably necessary to operate in reality in the first place (owning the food, keeping yourself alive), these rights are acknowledged (not granted) by the constitution as inalienable.
Infringing upon them means forcing people to overgo their natural instincts just as well as common sense (like self-defence). No authority is required in order to ensure them - if anything, authority is what infringes upon them the most.
The enemies of the USA helped make that possible. They fabricated "Separation of Church and State" to take any semblance of God out of government, and used emotional "greater good" arguments to persuade people to give up their freedoms. Fortunately a lot of Americans didn't fall for it, but enough have to cause real damage.
Idk as an atheist I like the separation of church and state. Do what you want behind closed doors but keep your magic and doctrines out of my shit. We couldn't even buy boose in my state on Sundays till a couple years ago shit like that is just fucking stupid. Religious zealotry of any kind is annoying asf to the non religious.
Zealotry of any kind is annoying at best, and dangerous at worst. See: leftist zealotry. Same can be said for religious zealotry.
I was a hardcore atheist back in my 20s as well. Separation, getting rid of all forms of religion and religious symbolism on government property and currency, that sort of thing. Well now I know how wrong I was as I see the effects of the population losing religion and faith on a large scale and it frightens me more than the fear of some theocracy ever did.
The prospect of losing it isn't the scary part to me it's the fact that people need to fill the void left by it and they choose even more insane ideologies atleast christianity has evolved to be palatable in the modern world but I still dislike all forms of it. The biggest hypocrites I've ever met besides libtards have been christians. Like I said I don't care what you do at home but government making policies based on a magic book is not the way forward to me. The only defining feature that matters to me is that you're american
That you're a fellow citizen who has the same rights and rules as I. I don't care about your fucking kids your family or your church it's not my problem I only have to look out for myself and those I care about and you do the same
Honestly, the state should be able to be as religious, capitalistic, socialistic as it pleases. We have a constitutional right to free movement specifically to let us move to states that we more align with.
Feminism and the feminine imperative is what is driving that. Women have a different sexual strategy (getting resources for their children from others) and therefore different values. See the sidebar on r/theredpill for a much more in-depth discussion .
This is what a lot of leftist dumbasses think here in California in regards to everything. They think that somehow ceding more responsibility to the government means that they’ll be more safe. Guns? Oh I can’t handle those things. Cops will protect me from some drug-addicted burglar from busting in my crib, robbing, and killing me. Healthcare? Oh it’s too complicated and I hate I have to pay for private insurance. I wish I could just get taxed more and have public healthcare. Free speech? No I hate getting my feelings hurt so the government should police thought now. 🤦🏻♂️ California is what happens when a population decides they can’t be fucked to take care of themselves. My mom work for retards who make 500k+ and they still can’t take care of themselves.
I know of other people (in other countries) that didn't want to return to work because the governments they have were paying most of their wages for no work. They want to go back into lockdown so their government is forced to "help them" again.
Not knowing that their governments are fucking broke and are now building up government debt like no tomorrow. Already talk of cutting many benefits back so they don't run out of money. Then when they do currencies will start to crash. Then the real fun will begin.
But the COVID cult won't care lock away in their homes.
When I had facebook a few months ago, this guy was talking about covid as if it was a mega-killer. I explained that, given the data we have now (early July at that point), it’s not as bad as we first anticipated and every age bracket has a 99% chance of survival. He says something like, “this girl I know has 20% lung damage. NO ONE comes out unscathed!”. I said that that’s not necessarily true, as most people have recovered fully. He basically scoffed then questioned if I even knew anyone who had covid because I was apparently being so ridiculous. I tagged my mom & my brother and stated they both had covid in June and are fully recovered (and they both confirmed). This guy was so angry that they recovered that he proceeded to wish they had died from it, he then said he hoped I would get covid and land in the ICU.
If you’re so scared of something, why would you be that angry when you find out it’s not so bad....? In the beginning, I was worried about covid as we didn’t know what to expect. But when I heard stories about recoveries, I’d be so relieved. Why would you wish destruction on a person because they’re showing you it’s not as bad as you believe....? Truly bizarre.
Seriously, people's cognitive dissonance is strong. You can throw facts in their faces, but they're so invested in the narrative that it does not compute in their minds.
I remember when reports came out that in California, despite their massive lockdowns, cases continued to rise just like the states that did not shut down. Instead of thinking oh, maybe cases are rising because lockdowns are bullshit, people's excuse was that people need to lock down harder.
Seriously! The thing that pisses me off the most about covid is all the doom and gloom around it. Cases are still rising despite lockdowns? LOCKDOWN HARDER! You can be asymptomatic! Wear a mask the rest of your life! No immunity! People have gotten sick more than once! YOU might not care about getting sick, but you’re risking the cashiers life if you go see your friends instead of locking yourself up at home and never leaving!
Especially if you talk about it with an average redditor. It doesn’t matter how minute the risk of death is, there’s always something else to worry about. You’re not allowed to do anything but live in fear the rest of your life.
Remember when tht picture of that pool party
concert from Wuhan came out months ago? People here were freaking out because they weren't social distancing or wearing masks. Lol! Thats the problem with people, they have a conclusion and work backwards. Like... Hello? Maybe consider that the whole pandemic thing is bullshit at that point? China is laughing at us.
Even today I've see friend's pictures from China, people are not wearing masks and living their lives.
I am honestly perplexed at the number of people in my personal life who have taken issue with that quote from POTUS. They act as if he’s personally infecting people...amazing.
What is really terrifying, and eye-opening is that people seem to WANT to be scared and WANT to be told what to do. I think if Trump wins that we are really just buying ourselves some time to prep and organize. If he loses, the governmental clamps just come down sooner, and the sheep welcome it.
Far left teaches the only truth is power. So far left followers become rabid lemmings who give up rational thought for pack mentality. When isolated, they are fearful because their only power is derived from the pack. True hell on earth has to be waiting for CNN to tell you what to think.
They're afraid of the weather. They're afraid of police. They're afraid of a flu. They're afraid of statues. They're afraid of satire. They're afraid of men. They're afraid of Russia. They're afraid of Americana. They're afraid of Christianity.
They are the ultimate embarrassment to the generations of settlers, women homebirthing in the wilderness, DDay soldiers, and the multitudes of others that got us this far.
The left counts on fear to make people compliant. The China Virus and the media’s shameful fear mongering coverage has unfortunately made many people so afraid that they’re willing to go along with whatever the left says is necessary. Masks, lockdowns, economic destruction. The sheep accept it because the left tells them it comes from “scientists”.
Those people are emotionally compromised and they're going to carry that fear with them for the rest of their life. Every flu season is going to be a wu-flu season. Normal life is just a memory, and it bothers them when others are going about their business like nothing happened.
And the fearmongers and MSM that caused this don't have even the slightest residue of guilt over it. Their ultimate fallback always being "Well it was better to be safe than sorry."
I posted this in another comment but back in early July, some dude on facebook was total “doom and gloom” talking about covid. It was like listening to a kid talk about the boogeyman. I showed him CDC data on recoveries per age bracket and said the risk of dying is incredibly low, and it’s not as bad as we all first anticipated it would be (when we first learned of covid). He said he has a friend who suffered 20% lung damage from covid and that “NO ONE comes out unscathed!”. I said that that’s not really true as a majority of people recovered 100%. He was basically like “pfft yeah okay do you even KNOW anyone that has had covid?”. I tagged my brother & my mom, explained they both tested positive & recovered 100%, to which they backed up. The dude accused them of lying, even after they sent pictures (not screenshots, literal pictures) of their computer screen their positive results (their names clearly displayed on the results).
This dude got so mad they recovered that he said he wished covid would have killed them, then proceeded to say he hoped I’d get covid and end up in the ICU.
Now, when covid first started, I was a little worried, myself. Ya know, we didn’t really know what to expect. But when I learned of people recovering, I felt relieved-not so enraged that my fears were invalidated that I wished they would have died. Just...what the fuck?? It’s like they WANT to be scared, at the expense of other people’s lives.
I know way too many people like this. It's utterly astounding. They have no courage whatsoever - not physical, mental, or emotional.
I didn't know this when I met them. I thought they were just regular people like me. I started to find out when the freakout started after the 2016 election, and really found out in March 2020 with the lockdown.
They love hiding at home, living life online, "socializing" with others only through Zoom calls, having everything delivered, and shrieking about the danger at every turn (while never giving a thought to those risking danger by delivering all their food and other stuff to their homes.)
That's why they went utterly batshit crazy when POTUS walked out of the hospital, stood on the balcony of his home and very pointedly took off that mask - and then said. "Don't be afraid."
For these people, that's they worse thing he could have done. If he can be so sick at 74 but still kick Covid's ass and go home and say "You don't have to be afraid" - they'd have to do the same thing!
They aren't afraid the lockdowns won't end.
They're afraid the lockdowns WILL end and they'll somehow be forced to go out into the world and face life again.
I really am shocked by this, after seeing it go on with NO end in sight for seven months now.
Maybe, instead of trying to talk them out of this, we should just leave them to it. Make it "okay" to sit at home and work only from there (if you work at all) and have everything delivered and avoid the real world as much as possible since that's what they so desperately seem to want.
To me, that's "existing." It's not living. But you can't make people go out and Live when they're just to damn cowardly to do it. Leave them to it, then, and find jobs they can do from home. The rest of us will go out and Live.
Maybe you're on to something. This whole thing has been fascinating/horrifying to watch. I remember thinking that GEOTUS was exaggerating when he said that most media are the enemy of the people. Boy was I wrong. Haven't doubted him since.
Jesus Christ, yes. Literally just got back from trying to get a bunch of boomer women to understand that they won't die if we have our bible study in a retreat center instead of people's houses... all while they sat packed in at a little table and ate homemade cookies.
My parents bought into the COVID hyperscare hardcore when it all first went down. I wasn’t allowed to visit, they were super panicked about every package being delivered with their groceries, probably gave themselves some horrid cancer due to copious hand sanitizer use.
They are now on a beach somewhere because they are tired of cowering at home. I’ll be visiting them next week when they are back to hopefully further administer the red pill.
My brother is the only one in the family still buying into it all. Took him off of my Facebook when he went full TDS and live streamed himself drinking champagne to Trump’s COVID diagnosis.
Infuriatingly accurate. People know about stupid shit celebrities, sports statistics, and lyrics to shitty music, but trying to get them to read or view videos about Covid's embellished numbers and the corruption within our government is damn near impossible. They don't want the truth. They want to be sheep and expect nothing can ever go wrong as the wolves close in.
In Michigan, the leftists/dems were scared to death at the prospect that Whitmer's orders were shot down. I was rejoicing.
Now that she's [unconstitutionally] re-instituted the same bullshit mask and gathering orders through yet another law that should never have been written, they are happy and comforted again.
I'm so sick of their embrace of media lies and government over-reach.
They’re not scared. They want to hurt Trump and believe locking down the nation, making everyone miserable and trying to destroy the economy would win them the election.
They are already on plan B, which is to rig the election in swing states with boxes of ballots.
I had to end my friendship with a woman who is in a high risk category. She truly believes that it isn’t fair for her to be confined to her home while others don’t have to. When I pointed out, unlike her, a retired teacher who will continue to receive her full pension, my income has decreased by half as a result of the shutdown, she wasn’t sympathetic at all. I said the state should cut her benefits in half if she really wants fairness. She took umbrage.
People have abandoned God. They think rights come from the government, so government can take away those rights.
Back in the Reddit days I remember seeing people clutching pearls at the idea that rights come from God or are otherwise natural and inalienable, because they were worried about how you can't restrict rights if they're not granted by the government.
They don't realize that isn't a bug, that's the entire point.
NSA is white hat, Snowden was/is a CIA plant/disinformation campaign against NSA.
There's no such thing as "was" or "ex" CIA. DC and the media are crawling with them. Worse than cockroaches.
Why downvotes????
Because claiming "Google: The Intelligence Agency" are good guys is delusional.
Exactly, which is why America's founding fathers made sure that fact was made perfectly clear. https://legaldictionary.net/inalienable-rights/
Yes. Worst part is they don't realize you don't even have to believe in god to acknowledge that your rights are natural born and exist in the absence of and or presence of government. Filling the void with government (as is the plan) is what's scary, yes.
Yup completely against it
What does that mean in practice?
That you're a fellow citizen who has the same rights and rules as I. I don't care about your fucking kids your family or your church it's not my problem I only have to look out for myself and those I care about and you do the same
Honestly, the state should be able to be as religious, capitalistic, socialistic as it pleases. We have a constitutional right to free movement specifically to let us move to states that we more align with.

The 19th amendment was a mistake.
I agree.
Are you saying woman shouldn't have the right to vote?
Yes.
Let me be clear: yes that is exactly what I'm saying.

Yeah, well 300 million people have learned how bad that can be, without having to go full on communist. We are so winning.

That's my plan
Name checks out.
Hunter, where are you?
Hunter?
Hunter who,, I've never heard of anyone named Hunter,, what are you a lying dog faced poney solider?
Come on man
Listen, fat
For 3.5 million, I bet you know who Hunter is, just give him the money but don't tell his son's Mommy.
What's the thing that I know?
Probably have a private stripper to snort off. Can't say I blame you.
Remember the old days where if you wanted to be scared, you just watched a horror movie? Ah well.

Yikes, stating objective facts is a bad look. Who hurt you?
I loved this... Don't let it dominate your life... He hit the perfect note I thought too!!!

They don't know what they want, they just react to information from the "experts." That's worse.
No, on a fundamental, often unconscious level they know what they want. It’s Marxism. All their actions prove this.

Holy CRAP does this describe most people in this country....
At least 51% are weak cowards.
The news media does NOT help in this regard.
This is so good. Thank you!!!
A scary amount of people want to be locked up all their freedoms taken away and left to die alone and scared.
Sad to witness the sacrifices of millions of people over time that had to fight for our freedoms undone by a bunch of retards.
Same EXACT mentality with climate change.
so many pussies out there you’d think i’d get laid more
Misery loves company
This also applies to:
Gays scared of reversal of gay marriage
Women scared of paying for their own abortion
Because "I'm scared" turns so easily into "I'm angry!"
Yes. And Fear + Anger = Rage
My coworker who hasn't left his 3rd floor apartment since this started is just like this picture. He's fucking scared.
Exactly. They are enjoying this immensely.
muhh wHaT PrOoF
You don't understand! 30 mil, um 200 Million, uhhh billion uhh... 200,000 people have died from this!
As a wise man once said, "chaos is a ladder".

Cognitive Dissonance as Scott Adams puts it. Or Doublethink as George Orwell puts it.
Or honk honk Clown World as we put it!

Comes by this site on Sunday, he be really scared.
They’re not scared. They want to hurt Trump and believe locking down the nation, making everyone miserable and trying to destroy the economy would win them the election.
They are already on plan B, which is to rig the election in swing states with boxes of ballots.
He is not that scared. Where is his face shield and gloves?
FDR: "There is nothing to fear, but fear itself"
Libtards: YESSSS
Trump: "Don't be Scared"
Libtards: REEEEEEEEEE HE IS KILLING MILLIONS

I had to end my friendship with a woman who is in a high risk category. She truly believes that it isn’t fair for her to be confined to her home while others don’t have to. When I pointed out, unlike her, a retired teacher who will continue to receive her full pension, my income has decreased by half as a result of the shutdown, she wasn’t sympathetic at all. I said the state should cut her benefits in half if she really wants fairness. She took umbrage.
