Crazy theory: maybe the nba owners petitioned the league to get in bed with hate groups like BLM to tank nba ratings and revenue. A temporary hit to save millions in player salary in the future. Maybe too smart to be true.

No. They're trying to pander to China because NBA ratings have been declining since the mid-90s. They know the US market is done with the NBA. This is the bottoming out process.

It’s fascinating to see all the people in the woke sports media spinning as hard as they can to try and ignore the NBA disaster. This is a truly unprecedented viewership collapse for a major pro sports league.

NBA ratings for Game 3 were down an unbelievable 70% from the last time LeBron was in the finals two years ago. Hey @mcuban why so quiet? I need you to tell me how these are phenomenal numbers & everyone is thrilled with them!

I wish an additional tariff was put on all shoes being made in China to really squeeze the wokeness out. It is as if they are so tall their brains cannot get enough oxygen to think logically.

Exactly. LeBron could easily force Nike to make his shoes in his hometown of Akron. They need the jobs. But LeBron is a slave driver who endorses sweatshops.

It would be a good idea in contract negotiations next time to include clauses to the effect that salary will be tied to viewership/attendance....if players do/promote/cause actions that reduce viewers, their salaries will be proportionally cut.

They already have that, with a salary cap (and escrow).

They're already taking a huge hit next year, due to the lost ticket sales and lost China revenue. (Remember that, when a GM criticized China regarding Hong Kong, and was forced to back down? The players who are so quick to criticize police in the USA, say nothing about Hong Kong.)

The NBA TV contract is signed through 2025, so there won't be a hit to revenue for another 5 years, if the ratings stay down.

You're assuming the networks won't renege. Or, more likely, threaten to renege to force a renegotiation.

Thanks for the information....I haven't been a big follower of the NBA since Michael Jordan and the Bulls clinched the 4peat Championship while I was living in Chicago.

Good times...Great basketball!!!
