Last Spring in peak quarantine, the schools sent all the kids home. That left a surplus of food intended for school lunches. Not to mention some kids have free lunch and that may be the only food they eat all day, so the school wanted to provide for those kids.
The decision was to send buses around the community loaded with school lunches. you were asked to register how many kids would be getting a lunch, but no one checked. At first very few kids were at the school lunch bus stops each day, but by the end of the school year, every kid in the neighborhood got lunch from the bus. All free of charge.
It was a huge success, and it is the kind of thing I want my tax dollars to be spent on. If the community/state/nation is doing well, I fully support feeding the citizens.
How much do you think it would cost for "busses" to follow the school routes to provide lunch to anyone who wanted, not just kids? Provide a free lunch everyday to anyone who wants it. Of course, it would be a generic school lunch-type lunch, so most people wouldn't wait for it at the bus stop, but everyone probably would at one point or another.
