This push for to make "equality" quietly mean "equity" is really disturbing. They are completely different concepts with vastly different outcomes when implemented. But the left-wing marxist types are quietly conflating the two to push support for their shitty ideas.
The conversation switched to equity simply because the ones preaching equality so damn much kept having typos or misspellings that were auto-corrected. Then it gave them a new word to define with their racist ideology.
Because arguing for Equality was a losing battle, when we actually have Equality of Opportunity which is what it should always be. Instead what they want is Equality of Outcome, hence Equity.
I believe the popularity of "equity" as any kind of meaningul measure is rooted deeply in Marxist thought, so honestly the rise in its use shouldn't surprise you anymore than the Communist/Socialist infestation perpetuated by the Left is something new.
For them, equity means committing crimes because they were discriminated against so they're just taking back what is theirs. They actually say it is ethical like it's their duty to revenge their oppressor by doing what they wanted to do anyways even though it's illegal
