It's funny because the dems want Puerto Rican statehood. And now they wanna vote for trump. Imagine that.

7
Hooray4hookers 7 points ago +7 / -0

It's funny because some analysts belive PR would go GOP. Dems think just because they are brown it means easy Dem. They are way more religious and anti-commie than any current State. They are crazy about family values (Catholic) and their leaders are conservative. Individual mayors lean liberal, but that won't last. A dude living there is not the same guy in NYC. Battleground state that could lean GOP of it wasn't for family concentrated in NY.

3
Cacciali_Via 3 points ago +5 / -2

Where did you get that idea? They would vote in a corrupt leftist, just as they always do on their island.

1
Wankerton 1 point ago +1 / -0

I am saying they don't want statehood.

2
doodaddy 2 points ago +2 / -0

Would be amazing to get a solid feel that Puerto Rico would be Republican, then watch Schumer backtrack his "reasons" for it to be a state.

I can only handle so much winning though.

4

The wooden spoon was only used once, hard. Every time after that, the drawer that contained said implement of punishment was shaken violently enough to inform all that a whuppin’ was coming.

The wooden spoon was never used again.

I am surprised Democrats we’re willing to throw Hispanics on the back burner so quickly . Like they forgot to pander to everything that breathes and just focused on BLM. More people should see through their lies and bulllshit now.

1

4
DestroyerofCobwebs 4 points ago +4 / -0

Surprised? You shouldn't be. Joe Biden himself said they were going to, and why:

And by the way, what you all know, but most people don’t know, unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things.

The media focused on the implied insult to the Blacks, but given the relationship Democrats have had with the black community for decades, that statement was more revealing about Democrat attitudes towards Hispanics.

If your group isn't willing to be a monolithic voting block, you aren't worth the Democrats time. That's basically what Biden was saying.

6
MerchantMan99 6 points ago +6 / -0

It depends which ones. 65% of Hispanics voted against Trump in the first election. I'm very curious how they'll vote this time around.

-4
Cacciali_Via -4 points ago +1 / -5

and a higher percentage of Asians voted against him.

Maybe it will only be 62% hispanics that vote for Biden. Wow, great progress...

48

All Puerto Ricans are Natural Born Citizens.if they are on the mainland they can vote, not from the island though.

15

21

19

2

2
Seanp12 2 points ago +2 / -0

Hurricane Maria was in September 2017, so that was two months before the midterm election. Our state house stayed red, but we did lose a net of one seat. That's far from what the Dems wanted though. We also elected Ron DeSantis and Rick Scott, though the Dems did pick up the ag commissioner's office.

However, Maria was also really close to the voter registration deadline, so it's possible that most of the Puerto Ricans didn't actually get registered in time, or just had bigger concerns than voting.

Peter Schiff said he moved to Puerto Rico and traded his vote for no income taxes.

6
Maniac67 6 points ago +6 / -0

You may not have to pay federal income taxes in PR, but you have to earn all your income from the Island in order for that to apply. And the pay in PR is really low, the taxes are high(sales tax is 11.5%), and the standard of living is abismal. Not counting that it's really hard to get a job there even with a degree, the country is overrun with drug gangs and you get hurricanes every year.

You literally degrade your standard of living if you decide to move from the US to PR. Coming from a Puerto Rican that left the Island in 2017

3
Rockonanon 3 points ago +3 / -0

I was also about to reference Peter Schiff! Love that guy (even though I know he is pretty critical of our guy). I live in CT, am half-Puerto Rican (incidentally) and when Peter Schiff ran for senate in 2009 I donated to his campaign. It was and still is the only time I have ever donated to a politician.

3
Block_Helen 3 points ago +3 / -0

Dunno their tax status or even their voting status, honestly.

2
MerlynTrump 2 points ago +2 / -0

I think people in PR only pay federal income tax on money earned outside of PR, but their whole income is subject to FICA. They are allowed to vote but since PR is not a state it only gets a delegate in Congress, no representatives or senators and thus no electoral vote (a state's electoral vote is equal to its number of representatives and senators, so for example California has 55 electoral votes because it sends 53 members to the House of Representatives and 2 people to the Senate.

3
MehNahMehNah 3 points ago +3 / -0

They have different taxes.

1
Remington 1 point ago +1 / -0

Federal government wise, the main problem we have, is that we have to import everything using US ships. It is called the Jones Act. This is like an indirect federal tax on everything that comes into the island.

In some of the recent years when they tried to export things from the island, to other places, this has hindered us and kept our economy from improving.

Besides that, if you work a federal job on the island, you pay federal taxes, or if you earn money outside of PR you pay federal taxes (like another pede mentioned).

We do pay into Social Security, and things such as Medicare where we get like 40% what someone in the mainland gets despite paying the same as Americans for it.

3
MehNahMehNah 3 points ago +3 / -0

The VP debate may just collapse Sniffy Joe's lead.

5
Zaszz345 5 points ago +5 / -0

It won’t. All of these polls coming out are suppression polls. They will keep having Joe ahead.

But, If you look at the actual data in battleground states like voter registration, enthusiasm and returns on early mail in voting. Trump and the GOP are doing very well.

Which is why the media only references polls and not that stuff.

Once in a while you might get an opening to subtly inject a tiny red pill, if you're lucky.

In time many many Hispanics will be republican, there’s already a decent amount considering the racial brainwashing that goes on, but I think they are realizing that like white people, they’re becoming expendable to Democrats.

It’s like some Toy Story shit when the kid that owns woody drops him in the bin for a new shiny toy and says “I don’t wanna play with you anymore” (something along those lines).

I have quiet a large Mexican-American friend group and they all like Trump. Tide may not fully turn now but it will someday.

11
FreeNow 11 points ago +11 / -0

Over time ethnic loyalties fade and people think of themselves as Americans before they think of themselves as Irish, Italian, German, Scottish, Poles, Mexican, Chinese, etc....all that becomes secondary and the Dems strategy of division stops working.

8
deleted 8 points ago +8 / -0
1

You do realize that while people are all unique individuals, that statistics regarding group behavior are still valid right?

As a group, whites are the only racial demographic that votes majority conservative.

You think white europeans are the main driving force of marxism? Are you not aware of bolshevivsm's Jewish roots? How many white Europeans are in China and South America? You know, places that already have marxism.

Think of the biggest Marxists in congress. How many are white Europeans other than Elizabeth Warren?

Watch Hispanics turn red this election as Dems butcher their language with "latinx" bullshit and try to import the communism so many of them, or their parents, fled from.

And then watch Dems suddenly reverse their position on immigration. I guarantee you Hispanics will suddenly count as white.

2

If they were going to make up words, I don't get why they wouldn't just pick an actual vowel to invent a neuter pronoun. Latinx can't function in Spanish, and the way they pronounce it doesn't match any of the rules of English or any of its exceptions to the rules.

And Cubans vote Republican. Not all Hispanics are the same, and furthermore, there's no guarantee that they will forever remain the same. They are more likely to follow the Irish/Italian Catholic model, which started out heavily Democrat but went rightward the more the Dems pushed on social issues and the more affluent Irish and Italians became. Now the Dems just have their leftovers like Pelosi and Biden.
