It's funny because some analysts belive PR would go GOP. Dems think just because they are brown it means easy Dem. They are way more religious and anti-commie than any current State. They are crazy about family values (Catholic) and their leaders are conservative. Individual mayors lean liberal, but that won't last. A dude living there is not the same guy in NYC. Battleground state that could lean GOP of it wasn't for family concentrated in NY.
I'm Hispanic and caught everyone's mother and grandmother's chanclas. As did all of my friends whose parents may not have followed the "chancla rule" Family is everything next to God.
And on the German side of my family, my Grandmother could throw a wooden spoon across the room with pinpoint accuracy. And she didn't even care if it was laden with the food she was stirring. I was incapable of ducking fast enough. Chanclas were more stealthy, I rarely saw them coming.
The wooden spoon was only used once, hard. Every time after that, the drawer that contained said implement of punishment was shaken violently enough to inform all that a whuppin’ was coming.
leftists always forget that blacks and hispanics are culturally conservative. leftists dont think they are because they give it all up for handouts from democrats. and the leftists are partially right, but buying votes will only get you so far.
I love to see this. Hopefully the turn out from Hispanic voters is better this time around, even without the endorsements. I suspect it will be.
I am surprised Democrats we’re willing to throw Hispanics on the back burner so quickly . Like they forgot to pander to everything that breathes and just focused on BLM. More people should see through their lies and bulllshit now.
Surprised? You shouldn't be. Joe Biden himself said they were going to, and why:
And by the way, what you all know, but most people don’t know, unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things.
The media focused on the implied insult to the Blacks, but given the relationship Democrats have had with the black community for decades, that statement was more revealing about Democrat attitudes towards Hispanics.
If your group isn't willing to be a monolithic voting block, you aren't worth the Democrats time. That's basically what Biden was saying.
Hurricane Maria was in September 2017, so that was two months before the midterm election. Our state house stayed red, but we did lose a net of one seat. That's far from what the Dems wanted though. We also elected Ron DeSantis and Rick Scott, though the Dems did pick up the ag commissioner's office.
However, Maria was also really close to the voter registration deadline, so it's possible that most of the Puerto Ricans didn't actually get registered in time, or just had bigger concerns than voting.
You may not have to pay federal income taxes in PR, but you have to earn all your income from the Island in order for that to apply. And the pay in PR is really low, the taxes are high(sales tax is 11.5%), and the standard of living is abismal. Not counting that it's really hard to get a job there even with a degree, the country is overrun with drug gangs and you get hurricanes every year.
You literally degrade your standard of living if you decide to move from the US to PR. Coming from a Puerto Rican that left the Island in 2017
I was also about to reference Peter Schiff! Love that guy (even though I know he is pretty critical of our guy). I live in CT, am half-Puerto Rican (incidentally) and when Peter Schiff ran for senate in 2009 I donated to his campaign. It was and still is the only time I have ever donated to a politician.
I think people in PR only pay federal income tax on money earned outside of PR, but their whole income is subject to FICA. They are allowed to vote but since PR is not a state it only gets a delegate in Congress, no representatives or senators and thus no electoral vote (a state's electoral vote is equal to its number of representatives and senators, so for example California has 55 electoral votes because it sends 53 members to the House of Representatives and 2 people to the Senate.
Federal government wise, the main problem we have, is that we have to import everything using US ships. It is called the Jones Act. This is like an indirect federal tax on everything that comes into the island.
In some of the recent years when they tried to export things from the island, to other places, this has hindered us and kept our economy from improving.
Besides that, if you work a federal job on the island, you pay federal taxes, or if you earn money outside of PR you pay federal taxes (like another pede mentioned).
We do pay into Social Security, and things such as Medicare where we get like 40% what someone in the mainland gets despite paying the same as Americans for it.
There are more of us than you realize. And most I know are voting for our President. I don't know a lot of Mexicans, so if you would chime in ad let us know the attitude there, it would be greatly appreciated. I also know a lot of Vietnamese. ALL of them are voting Trump.
You sound like a YouTube socialist: "Do YoU HavE a StuDY To BaCk uP YoUr cLaImS?" The guy's just giving his experience, just like when people bring up Trump signs vs. Biden signs in neighborhoods.
I love your enthusiasm for the president, but let's face facts. Puerto Ricans love to vote for corrupt leftists. If they didn't, the democrats would not want to make them a state.
Kamala harris makes me want to shoot up antifreeze idk how people like her. She's worse than Hilary policy wise. She changes her policies based on Twitter.
No one likes her. She literally could not hit 2% in her own primary and dropped out of the race when she was gonna lose her own home state of California to Bernie Sanders in said Primary.
I ask myself the same question. Perhaps Bernie is, ultimately, not so easy to control? Dunno. I definitely think he is a stronger candidate than Biden.
It won’t. All of these polls coming out are suppression polls. They will keep having Joe ahead.
But, If you look at the actual data in battleground states like voter registration, enthusiasm and returns on early mail in voting. Trump and the GOP are doing very well.
Which is why the media only references polls and not that stuff.
You really can't school people like that. They are legitimately brainwashed, lost in the propaganda. All you can do is be patient with them, and hope that somehow by the grace of God they catch the scent of Truth on the wind. Once in a while you might get an opening to subtly inject a tiny red pill, if you're lucky.
In time many many Hispanics will be republican, there’s already a decent amount considering the racial brainwashing that goes on, but I think they are realizing that like white people, they’re becoming expendable to Democrats.
It’s like some Toy Story shit when the kid that owns woody drops him in the bin for a new shiny toy and says “I don’t wanna play with you anymore” (something along those lines).
I have quiet a large Mexican-American friend group and they all like Trump. Tide may not fully turn now but it will someday.
Over time ethnic loyalties fade and people think of themselves as Americans before they think of themselves as Irish, Italian, German, Scottish, Poles, Mexican, Chinese, etc....all that becomes secondary and the Dems strategy of division stops working.
That's also the reason why Dems need mass immigration. Without it, they lose their stockpile of reliable poor people without strong American loyalties.
You are delusional, and young. I know this because people have been saying exactly what you have said for the last 40 years and yet they always vote for democrats.
You do realize that while people are all unique individuals, that statistics regarding group behavior are still valid right?
As a group, whites are the only racial demographic that votes majority conservative.
You think white europeans are the main driving force of marxism? Are you not aware of bolshevivsm's Jewish roots? How many white Europeans are in China and South America? You know, places that already have marxism.
Think of the biggest Marxists in congress. How many are white Europeans other than Elizabeth Warren?
Hell, I think the endorsement sounds more persuasive when it feels like a genuinely weighed and considered decision between two legitimate options with pros and cons.
Watch Hispanics turn red this election as Dems butcher their language with "latinx" bullshit and try to import the communism so many of them, or their parents, fled from.
And then watch Dems suddenly reverse their position on immigration. I guarantee you Hispanics will suddenly count as white.
I am a Latino (which is just a fucking word I don't really care what you call me) and I say mutherFUCK this "latinx" bullshit with a big MAGA dick! Latinx? Are you fucking kidding me? Why the fuck would a made up bullshit word like that come out of my mouth? You can take your Latinx and stick it where the sunx don't shinex!!!!
If they were going to make up words, I don't get why they wouldn't just pick an actual vowel to invent a neuter pronoun. Latinx can't function in Spanish, and the way they pronounce it doesn't match any of the rules of English or any of its exceptions to the rules.
Latino, Hispanic, I'm a big believer in being polite and calling people what they're comfortable with...as long as it's not a made up word or obviously untrue.
Wait, wasn’t she the one who blamed Trump for not helping Puerto Rico after that hurricane hit a couple years ago, while standing in front of several massive pallets of water? Or was that someone else?
My brother in law is Puerto Rican. He voted for Trump in 2016 and is an even bigger supporter this time around. He's 100% pure MAGA now! He used to be a consistent Democrat voter, but not anymore!

Thanks for the link. I thought "La Raza" was the actual name, but it looks like it's more of a mantra of this (and other) sub groups. I had never heard of MEChA.
Gonna laugh my ass off if their push to get puerto ricans to relocate to florida in an attempt to push the state blue ends up increasing the vote for the GOP lol.
Any other Puerto Ricans here who grew up hearing jokes about "The Governor of Puerto Rico"? For those who don't know, there is this sort of trope that the Governor of Puerto Rico is an idiot. Among Puerto Ricans, maybe of a certain age, I don't know, there are many jokes told about the Governor of Puerto Rico that take the form of what we think of as Polish jokes (no offense to the based Poles, we luv ya, fam!). Anyway I was just wondering if anyone else out there remembers this. I would imagine that leftist Puerto Ricans are out there referencing this as we speak.
Had dinner with two Venezuelan immigrants in their 20s and they were BASED. I think the dems have really miscalculated the Latino community. Many have no allegiance to Mexico and all including Mexicans are very conservative and hard working.
the results of every election show that you have no idea what you are talking about.
Mexicans may be conservative and hard working, but they vote overwhelmingly for democrats in every election. This is not debatable. It is a historical fact.
And Cubans vote Republican. Not all Hispanics are the same, and furthermore, there's no guarantee that they will forever remain the same. They are more likely to follow the Irish/Italian Catholic model, which started out heavily Democrat but went rightward the more the Dems pushed on social issues and the more affluent Irish and Italians became. Now the Dems just have their leftovers like Pelosi and Biden.
I may be ignorant and please correct me if i am but don't they pull in more federal aid by not being a state? Wonder why they don't want the party that will give them statehood?
Trump IS the American Dream! Of course they love him!
"uhh, hey Nancy, yeah we'll take those two extra Senate seats actually"
It's funny because the dems want Puerto Rican statehood. And now they wanna vote for trump. Imagine that.
Where did you get that idea? They would vote in a corrupt leftist, just as they always do on their island.
I am saying they don't want statehood.
Would be amazing to get a solid feel that Puerto Rico would be Republican, then watch Schumer backtrack his "reasons" for it to be a state.
I can only handle so much winning though.
Mess with the nuclear family, and you're going to get a nuclear reaction. If you've never had a chancla thrown your way, look out!

Lmao. Reminds me of my Italian grandmother and her wooden spoon. Good times
And on the German side of my family, my Grandmother could throw a wooden spoon across the room with pinpoint accuracy. And she didn't even care if it was laden with the food she was stirring. I was incapable of ducking fast enough. Chanclas were more stealthy, I rarely saw them coming.
moral of the story....don't put your fingers in the food. That's global
No German in my family, but that wooden spoon was used like a paddle on the rear if you really acted up, lol.
The wooden spoon was only used once, hard. Every time after that, the drawer that contained said implement of punishment was shaken violently enough to inform all that a whuppin’ was coming.
The wooden spoon was never used again.
If you can’t take the fire, get out of the nuclear reactor!
Grove Street 4 Lyfe

leftists always forget that blacks and hispanics are culturally conservative. leftists dont think they are because they give it all up for handouts from democrats. and the leftists are partially right, but buying votes will only get you so far.
It has taken hispanic countries very far left. Why would it be any different here?
That's a lot of fucking! This site beats Reddit sometimes.
Sometimes?
Every fucking time!
I love to see this. Hopefully the turn out from Hispanic voters is better this time around, even without the endorsements. I suspect it will be.

You've seen obama's wife, right?
Yeah, he's the guy who ran on the ticket with Biden, right? Man, his husband was a monster.
Surprised? You shouldn't be. Joe Biden himself said they were going to, and why:

It depends which ones. 65% of Hispanics voted against Trump in the first election. I'm very curious how they'll vote this time around.
and a higher percentage of Asians voted against him.
Maybe it will only be 62% hispanics that vote for Biden. Wow, great progress...
This is fine work. I give it 10 out of 10 helicopters.
Wait... Can Puerto Ricans even vote for president?
All Puerto Ricans are Natural Born Citizens.if they are on the mainland they can vote, not from the island though.
As in, residents of PR can't vote? Must be residing in a state?
Right. There are a bunch of them in Florida rn.
Remember when Democrats started to flood Florida with Puerto Ricans thinking they would all vote dem and turn FL blue?
HAHAHAHAHA!
We havent had an election since that happened. They might.
Hurricane Maria was in September 2017, so that was two months before the midterm election. Our state house stayed red, but we did lose a net of one seat. That's far from what the Dems wanted though. Personal anecdotes don't mean shit. Especially to those of us who have heard similar claims for decades and the votes never materialize.
70% of Asians vote for democrats. They are the most singular voting group behind blacks and jews.
Puerto Rican Pede here. We love you too. Lets keep America Great and get corrupt politicians out of here in November.

Talking to a couple of Peruvian women and they both say that people in Peru are all hoping Trump wins.

First generation Hispanics hate communism and vote democrat.
Second generation Hispanics love communism and vote democrat.
Plainly false. Where do you think Ted Cruz got his name from? It's less about the generations, and more about the regions from which they come.
You bring up an individual to disprove my point about group voting patterns? Sorry, it doesn't work that way.

Oh yeah, got accused of corruption too.
Not just accused but arrested: https://archive.is/zkydK
LOL fake news snopes says this is fake when I searched it, but I got this from CBS
so, include a couple whomps and we're good 👍
That was the mayor of San Juan. Also remember that the mayor also had time to get anti-Trump t-shirts printed while her constituents were going hungry
Came here to ask the same

And just like that, the left is no longer interested in statehood for PR.
