Nothing inherently wrong with this. I have friends I consider closer to me than some family. Our neighbors call us family.
Ok i would disagree. Conditioning prople to not have to be apart of their family because they can choose is bullshit.

Sorry but I’m also one that doesn’t see a problem with this. It’s not really conditioning people to turn their back on their family. The truth is that family often times will mistreat you while others you share values with can be more like family and have your best interests at heart. This is actually what the term “Blood is thicker than water” means. Many people don’t realize that the quote is stripped down. It’s really supposed to say “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.” The bonds we make are stronger than the ones we’re born into. We can also make these bonds with family, but it is not an automatic condition.
