I feel bad for the abuse they endured, but they knew their party's politics when then got involved, so I don't feel bad for them choosing their own fate in that regard.

I mean politics as in the party of abortion and slavery and now socialism and increased radicalism. Sure the "politics" might be eye opening, but I was commenting on the ideals that the party they went to work for support.
