Two big factors that led to me switching sides: Hillary's deplorables speech, and watching how much fun the Trump crowd was having.

Reminds me of a good quote I saw a while back:

"I used to be a libertarian because I just wanted to be left alone and I believed in extending that same courtesy to others. I became right-wing when I realized that the left will never, ever leave me alone."

69
WhiteLash 69 points ago +73 / -4

The libertarians are a joke. I was the same way, joined a libertarian social group even. Almost all of them have TDS now. They try to appeal to leftists and win over exactly zero of them to their niche group. They love losing and they are complicit with the left. I had one on Facebook today from that group told me fuck you for posting that I was no longer going to wear a mask anywhere anymore.

Two_Scoops__ 59 points ago +59 / -0

Same thing can be said for cuckservatives. They sit back and whine about Trump's tweets or shit he says, like they have any idea of how to fight. Look faggot, do you want to have "muh conservative principles" or do you want to win?

48
lerm4comptroller 48 points ago +48 / -0

I find this one so funny. What "conservative principles" has Trump betrayed?

Pro life? Lower taxes? Reduced regulatory burden? Pro law and order? Pro manufacturing and business? Oh wait--he's the first Republican President to actually uphold any of these since Reagan.

No, the "conservative principle" is apparently that people on the right should always bend over being nice to the liberal media and never make fun of their opponents, especially on Twitter.

... Yet I can't find that in a Republican platform from any time in history. Almost like the Bush 1&2 crew just made it up from whole cloth to excuse their fake "conservatism" of the past 30 years.

14
MerchantMan99 14 points ago +18 / -4

What "conservative principles" has Trump betrayed?

The national debt has grown by trillions. Gov't spending has only increased. Nothing conservative about that.

24
lerm4comptroller 24 points ago +24 / -0

... And that's the line for the old Bush crew, eh? That's the "conservative principle" they hold most dear and are willing to abandon the entire Republican party and vote for universal healthcare and open borders for?

K. Sure. Makes total sense. Not hilarious or ironic at all. Nope.

I had one guy on fb say that Trump's just "using" the Christian community for their votes and that's one of the reasons he's not voting for him. Mind you this guy is VERY anti-abortion and conservative in general. Blows my mind.

11
tombombadil 11 points ago +11 / -0

Conservative Catholic here. There has not been a single president in US history that has stood up for pro-lifers like Donald Trump has.

It’s unbelievable that he is the first president to speak at the March for Life. That’s an easy 100k+ lifetime votes just sitting there on the table for any president to take. All they had to do is step outside their front door and say that they don’t like abortion. And to this day, Trump has been the only president with the guts to do it.

26
orange_dit 26 points ago +26 / -0

Conservatives need to understand that being tough is not immoral. When your opponent not only fights you but fights dirty there is no time to think about what is the most moral way to win.

14
Averon 14 points ago +14 / -0

In 2016, there was a guy at work who said he wasn't voting Trump because he thought the leaders should have moral character... I never found out who he was voting for, but my guess would be whoever it was had all kinds of skeletons in the closet.

11
Two_Scoops__ 11 points ago +11 / -0

Please we can elect non-Christians who fight dirty for us in the political sphere. Nothing wrong with that. These people need to wake up

8
Goldlight 8 points ago +8 / -0

I feel like the refusal to be tough is directly related to the feminization of men in the west.

3
orange_dit 3 points ago +3 / -0

Exactly. Jesus kicked out the money changers from the temple with a whip and knocked over their tables. Christians beat the Muslim invaders in the crusades. Over the years Christians became pacifists. Sure it is good not to start unnecessary wars, but it seems like Christians forgot Jesus fought too and only remember the turn the other cheek verse. And from the old testament turning our swords into plowshares and not the verse that says turn our plowshares into swords.

18

6

PurestEvil 30 points ago +30 / -0

To be fair, many people don't know their own true beliefs. There are RINOs, DINOs, and I guess LINOs (Libertarian in name only) as well.

I am a real Libertarian. I believe in the maximization of individual liberties. And I am aware of the enemies of these values. The government must be used against them, as they are using it against you. Reciprocity is a significant pillar in ethics - and nobody has to reject power if power is used against you. No - you have the DUTY to use power to defeat the aggressor, otherwise you let them get away with it and continue to do so.

But the end goal should be to increase Free Market Capitalism rather than spiral into working towards communism to defeat communists.

And another point: Whoever is not for the ABSOLUTE ELIMINATION OF MARXISM is not a true Libertarian. Whoever finds himself flirting with leftists or trying to appease them is a cuck that belongs in the trash bin.

12
Averon 12 points ago +12 / -0

It's like a home invader busting your door down and coming into your house and negotiating with you on how much stuff to take. No, no negotiation. Home invaders need to be dealt with. You don't give them any of your stuff. As long as a person doesn't invade your home, who cares what he does to his own place, but as soon as he attempts to bust the door to your home down, he should immediately lose all power to bust any door down ever again.

11
Overkillengine 11 points ago +11 / -0

I am in a similar boat as a registered libertarian - I am against open borders because I can think past first order consequences and know that such policy is a kumbaya campfire fantasy that inevitably leads to the erosion of the rights of citizens.

3
RagnarD 3 points ago +3 / -0

Not just the erosion of the rights of citizens, but the destruction of the society as a whole.

5
WhiteLash 5 points ago +5 / -0

I can respect that Evil. I’m overgeneralizing for sure, but it feels necessary. Too many cucks, too little time and I’m addicted to winning!

13
Wankerton 13 points ago +13 / -0

Lots of libertarians like trump. Especially since their current presidential candidate is super woke. Why would any libertarian want to vote for someone who believes that we have to be actively "anti-racist". Why would any libertarian in their right mind would want a president that wants to actively discriminate against white people. Pretty dumb If you ask me.

11
Overkillengine 11 points ago +11 / -0

Post Ron Paul I suspect the party leadership has been puppeted much like the RNC and DNC since It got big enough to be a potential political threat.

12
JediMasterGandalf 12 points ago +12 / -0

I would say that Libertarians are a joke, but libertarians are not. I consider myself the latter but definitely not the former.

11
publ1us 11 points ago +11 / -0

Another former Libertarian checking in. It's the stand you take when you can't quite bring yourself to take a real stand. I went full on Trump Train after similarly realizing the left will never leave us alone.

17
KekistanPM 17 points ago +18 / -1

I thought "when gay marriage became legal in all 50 states the left will leave it alone."

Nope. See pride month. Not even one day is good enough for them. Not even one parade is enough for them. They need a month of parades. That isn't even good enough -- they demand major corporations show support or risk getting crapped all over on social media forever. That isn't good enough either; the heterosexuals are still a looming threat. Everyone who protests homosexuality or even doesn't care for it needs to be accused of sexism, intolerance and ex-communicated from society

10
Philhelm 10 points ago +10 / -0

All of these groups have always been about exerting power. Everything else is just window dressing.

7
Averon 7 points ago +7 / -0

I see marriage as a covenant between a man and woman before God. Why should the state be involved in marriage at all? Let alone trying to force me to admit something is a marriage that according to my beliefs is not a marriage. And divorce, why is the state involved in that either? If it's a union before God, how is it that some judge should have the authority to abolish that union?

4
zabbers 4 points ago +4 / -0

A Republican state representative once suggested the nuclear option if gay marriage were ruled the law of the land: abolish marriage as a State licensed activity and replace with implicit civil contract law.

He was laughed at, scorned as a radical loon, and told to go away by the media and people on the left and right. To this day I still don't understand the opposition since what he said - and what you're saying - sounds reasonable to me.

11
FragrantDude 11 points ago +12 / -1

This is literally what happened to me. I was a registered libertarian (NOT ancap) for many years and I voted them every presidential election to try to help a third party come onto the stage. Then 2016 happened with that useless pothead Gary Whogivesashit and his RINO running mate Weld on the LIbertarian side, I realized that the LIberatrian party is controlled opposition and they will never do anything useful even if they ever got power. On top of that, the anti-conservative rhetoric from the Democrats building to a scream made it abundantly obvious to me that the left wanted to torture and kill me and my family just because I was conservative, and Republicans seem to be the only ones fighting against it (however limp-wristed it may be).

I registered Independent this year, but I have always voted full ticket conservative when I have a choice, and none when it's only Democrats. I honestly would rather vote MAGA party, but no one has started that yet, so I guess I'll vote straight Republican for now.

5
Overkillengine 5 points ago +5 / -0

I was conservative

Outgroup. Marxists (and other authoritarian collectivists) weaponize ingroup/outgroup declarations to direct their drones and instill cohesion by giving them a holy enemy to unite against. Conservatives are just the current holy enemy, but ironically enough any one of their current demographic ingroups can and will be "othered" at any point that it becomes politically convenient.

When the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent; I was not a communist. When they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a social democrat. When they came for the trade unionists, I did not speak out; I was not a trade unionist. When they came for the Jews, I did not speak out; I was not a Jew. When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out.

Pastor Marten Niemoller 1892-1984

3
zabbers 3 points ago +3 / -0

I used to just call it tribalism but "weaponized ingroup/outgroup declarations" is even better.

2
zabbers 2 points ago +2 / -0

I realized that the LIberatrian party is controlled opposition...

Beyond that, it's not even possible for a third-party to usurp the uniparty these days. The game is rigged. Local election laws have been constructed by the incestuous web of state parties and legislatures, making sure parties remain a private system of the elites while having the power of quasi-governmental organizations. It is completely antithetical to what our founders envisioned.

Trump showed how to do it. We have to take over from within and show the people there's a better way. If we get enough MAGA in there, we'll have completely destroyed the Dems and may be able to split the GOP into a coalition of Patriots and RINOs who at least vote with us most of the time.

6
JackIsALarp 6 points ago +7 / -1

Many libertarians now believe that GEOTUS is part of the uniparty and that they use him to make life more authoritarian.

You can't win with these nerds. We try to make their speech more free, and they just dig their heels into lala land.

5
muslimporn 5 points ago +5 / -0

There's a mess because of etymology versus politics. For a long time many people have called themselves liberal with a different set of dominant meanings than today. Politically, ideologically, academically and institutionally approaching the turn of the century as the left sought to redefine itself under the concept of using the new millennium to orchestrate a renewal of sorts the meaning of liberal was reformed or rather deformed along with it. This change was in an effect a reversal.

As a result when you have people today who are carrying the liberal torch yet being strict (authoritarian) and while still calling themselves liberal it makes it very difficult to continue using the label.

A lot of people have started calling themselves classical liberals as a result. While the left wing party in the UK explicitly renamed themselves New Labour ideologically despite the radical changes no one bothered to rename it. Neo-liberal was already taken so then simply never bothered. The old name isn't appropriate either but because they claim it you can't do anything. You can control what you call things and yourself but not others. The name is now like Little John.

Because the left is authoritarian but liberal isn't appropriate loads of people just call themselves libertarians instead merely to identify themselves as anti-authoritarian with less syllables.

It's still messy because there's also an established libertarian political concept with far more specifics which often isn't what many people intend to mean when they say libertarian.

English is an ongoing battle for the shortest terms to efficiently describe something ideally using familiar rather than invented terms or random terms.

2
Averon 2 points ago +2 / -0

The authoritarians are the ones who want to use a virus as an excuse to lord over everyone with an iron first.

I was thinking today how horrible it would be to be a leftist, in short because while the internal ideological contradictions and doublethink compound on your subconscious, externally you're surrounded by cynical, hateful sophists putting on airs of compassion and tolerance while they bide their time looking for the opportunity to step on your neck for more power to lord over you.

Leftists have created a world for themselves where their deepest beliefs clash with objective reality and everyone you know wears a hollow smile while looking for an opportunity to stab you in the back.

Is it any wonder they're such thoroughly miserable creatures...

This is my story too. I’m still appalled normies can’t see through the dem bullshit. Actually I’m convinced they can but their tribalism gets in the way. Yesterday I told my mom covid was political, she disagreed. I offered a $1000 bet saying it disappears after the election. She didn’t take the bet...

15
Transgirl_4_Trump 15 points ago +15 / -0

Haha. I've repeatedly offered a similar bet to my SO. They know in their hearts that we're right. A wise person once said "It is a terrible thing to fall, but far more terrible is to admit it."

7
publ1us 7 points ago +7 / -0

My girlfriend was worried about her "at-risk" mother getting it, as well as her step dad. Me and my folks had it back in March and kicked its commie ass like the red blooded Patriots we are. Her mom and step dad got it, she freaked out for a day or two, and then literally has not brought it up one bit since. I can only assume they got over it like it was nothing, like I did.

I can only hope this shit is sinking in, because any direct attempt has been completely futile since she believes Trump is as guilty as the rest of them. No matter what evidence I bring she goes back to that. She'll claim she doesn't fit in with whatever groups, but regurgitates Democratic Party talking points to me whenever it does come up, including the old "Western European Democratic Socialism" argument.

5
Transgirl_4_Trump 5 points ago +5 / -0

I know exactly how you feel, pede. I have good friends - otherwise kind and smart people - who insist that they are neutral and moderate and formulate all their own opinions without outside influence they are just totally free thinkers coming to their own conclusions based on the facts.

... And then they will tow the party line harder than a fucking tugboat and literally shout me down Chris Wallace style and say I'm 'distracting from the issue' when I dare deviate from the neat little script they have in their heads. Two friends have literally covered their ears and said "LaLaLaLaLa" like a fucking child and then called me closed minded!! The cognitive dissonance is remarkable. That's why we call them NPCs. They are not bad guys, but until the system changes and they are told it's okay to not tow the line they are just mind slaves to the enemy. Very much like the Matrix.

4
ripley88 4 points ago +4 / -0

I'm more and more impressed with how apt an analogy the red pill is. (Ironic that it was invented by trannies.)

Even before I was interested in politics, when a friend first told me what "Woke" was, I told him it sounded stupid. Thinking back, I can recall how physically uncomfortable it made him just to hear that kind of push back.

2
zabbers 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'm more and more impressed with how apt an analogy the red pill is. (Ironic that it was invented by trannies.)

Ironic, hilarious, and still apt considering this is exactly the kind of cultural programming they were alluding to, and they weren't trannies at the time.

Here's a good video about how The Matrix is in no way an allegory for transgenderism even though they tried pretending it was.

Normies who don't have access to "alternative media" like us may never know that the wool is pulled over their eyes. Many of them probably see "alternative media" as a bunch of extremist conspiracy theorists shut off from reality trying to control them (ironically).

Try not to judge... I've since seen the light... But I originally wanted bernie. His message of completely destroying lobbying, and stripping the power of corporations and special interests from campaign finance (eliminating pacs, etc) resonated with me. He's since become the biggest cuck ever... But in 2015, he had been saying the same shit for 40 years. Truly a sad story. When hillary got the nomination via party line superdelegate coronation, I knew I wasn't voting for her. That was in June. But the deplorables speech in September (holy shit... Just realizing how close it was to the election) made me go, "welp there it is, 100% voting for Trump now you stupid fucking bozos."

I'm liberal. I wanted yang to win the dem primary this year. Woops! The dems ushered another neocon swamp creature to the front of the ticket... AGAIN! Morons! Now I'm all in on Trump for life. 12 more years? Pshh... 12 more TERMS.

18
FakeNametag 18 points ago +18 / -0

The way to get rid of lobbying is to get rid of corporate taxes. The lobbyists are out there lobbying for tax breaks. If no corporations paid taxes the playing field between small and large companies would be even and corporations would have nothing to lobby for. The way it is now, the big companies don't pay corporate taxes because they've lobbied for a loophole and the small companies cannot compete.

Corporate taxes, when they are paid, are not really paid by the corporation, they are passed through to the consumer. In the case where the company cannot pass the taxes through you can be sure they are economizing by cutting wages to the bone.

13
Transgirl_4_Trump 13 points ago +13 / -0

Hah, nice story. For me it was a goddam sticker. I was on my uni campus during the whole campus rape culture BS and there was this one bathroom right next to my office. Mens room, I wasn't out yet. One day I walk into the bathroom and in the middle of the mirror is this fucking sticker that says "The Average man will rape 2.4 women while attending this school. Be a part of the solution." It was right in the middle of the mirror. I couldn't even wash my hands without it being right at eye level. I had never even dreamed of touching a girl inappropriately in my entire life; I didn't even hang out with girls because I was so terrified of being falsely accused of impropriety. And now someone decided to put a fucking sticker in my face basically calling me a rapist and demanding I repent without even bothering to know who I was. It made me so insanely mad.

So I decided: Screw em. I decided I would do literally anything in my power to end their unjust persecution of innocent boys. I would make sure that that sticker backfired on whoever put it on their as hard as I possibly could. Never found out who it was, and I guess it doesn't really matter. Ironically, I stopped using that bathroom shortly thereafter when I transitioned, but I went it one last time to check and it was still up almost a year later. For me that was it, the message was sent and there was no going back.

For me it's not one thing but thousands and thousands of things in over two decades which grow worse and worse.

We can generally boil it down to playing out of an intense ever growing jealous hatred combined with scapegoating of native straight white males.

That hatred is rapidly approaching murderous.

6

Yeah, like what the hell, Bernie? The quickness he went to just parroting the non-sensical narrative about how dangerous Trump immediately after Hilary cucked him in the primaries (the first time) made me realize how much of a sellout he was. If he meant anything he said during his run he wouldn't have stood by and let her do that.

1

remember1776 26 points ago +26 / -0

For me it wasn't 'switching sides' per se, I was more on the fence having a good time as a spectator before jumping on the train. That moment was when I saw people getting vilified for having the audacity to have a different opinion than what was approved by the media and the woke mob.

8
BiglyCovfefe 8 points ago +8 / -0

Even now that I'm a diehard Trump warrior, I'd never wish ill on my opponent. If biden got covid, I'd wish him well. I'd wish him a speedy recovery, and I'd wish that no one close to him would be infected, and caused undue suffering. I wish biden's supporters well too. They disagree with me, but I don't consider them evil... Just misinformed, and perhaps coming from VERY different circumstances - usually either great privilege, or great poverty / shitty upbringing.

Can you imagine thinking everyone on the other side is evil, and wishing harm upon all of them? That seems to be an excusively left/democrat thing. Trump represents the party of love, enjoying life, including others, and celebrating and cherishing America.

11
ValleyForge 11 points ago +11 / -0

I absolutely think most of the upper-echelon on the left is evil. Don’t kid yourself. Their supporters are just brainwashed and don’t know better, people like AOC are also brainwashed. People like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer however know exactly what they are doing. They literally lied and made Kavanaugh out to be a rapist with zero evidence and they knew damn well it wasn’t true. Then will do anything and everything to consolidate their power.

5
FragrantDude 5 points ago +5 / -0

Out of everyone in government, swamp or not, Pelosi is the one that I think is most dangerous. Her absolute naked lust for power and the obvious lengths she'd go to get it ("I'm not sending out stimulus checks because it would be Trump's name on it, and we just can't let him have that kind of win") tells me that she's the type of person that would rather rule over ashes just so she can be at the top. I mean watch how giddy she gets whenever talking about, well, anything to do with the possibility of her getting more power - it's disgusting. She starts moving and squirming like an excited kid waiting for the toy store to open.

Oh, where there is true evil.... Let it be eradicated by any means necessary. But I must insist that the victims of brainwashing themselves are not automatically evil. There are millions of people who were brainwashed last election who have since seen the light! Imagine how many more people will see the truth by, say, Trump's 4th or 5th term in office.

You don't need to be convinced; that's an emotional statement.

Flip the analysis. Group power systems exist in every species. Human governments are just another iteration.

Like a mountain, psychopaths are attracted simply because its there. Its a competitive challenge to "win".

They really truly enjoy lying, manipulating and exercising in your face unlawful behavior.

Its a game, with deplorable as the pathetic losers who get dunked on.

Our only recourse is the proverbial reset.

I'll never forget that day in 2016. My wife and I were glued to the TV, watching as the results came in state by state. Near the beginning, the talking heads were still their usual smug selves. Then one state came in. Then two. And so on. You could see the hairline cracks in their demeanor turn into fullblown faults. CNN anchor claiming "THIS IS A WHITELASH". I was squeeing with glee for days. But then the sky screaming didn't stop. It just lingered on and on.... and on........... and ON........ and now, here we are, 4 years later, but the sky screams have not stopped. They have intensified.

It's so true! Trump winning wasn't that big a deal at all for them, but they want to keep throwing pins on their shoes and then crying every time they put them on. They use projected logic and false pretenses to back themselves into a narrative they cannot win and then cry about losing.

Seeing a leftist turn into a pede would be like the story of the prodigal son.

"We must have a large feast!"

"But father, I've been a loyal pede all these years! Not once have you thrown a large feast for me! You never even made me a tray of pizza rolls!"

"Son, all I have is yours; but you must realize, your brother was lost, and is now found!"

Same here. I enjoyed just being a spectator. I haven’t voted since 2004. I’ve generally found myself to align more along the conservative side of issues, but not on everything. I never gave a fuck about the Republican party, and I never voted because I never felt like any of the dumbasses running would represent my interests well or deserved my endorsement.

Even in 2016, I wasn’t entirely sure about Trump. I liked what he promised, but I recognized he was a New York billionaire, and I was skeptical for sure.

Boy, was I wrong! This is the first election I am actually excited as fuck to be voting in. The leftists have gotten so radical that there is no way to ignore what is going on here.

I’ve always been interested in geopolitical issues. I keep informed by reading news from all over the world in the original language (and the native comments sections) to get a strategic picture of what’s up.

I know I’m not the only one who is informed but has hesitated in actually voting nonetheless due to a lack of suitable candidates.

This election has lines clearly drawn, and we all know what’s at stake...

Don't be afraid of their inaccurate labels - just turn around and shove them in their face by not giving them examples to prove them right, but wearing the labels as a badge anyway.

I also noticed Democrat policies show up in almost every single aspect of daily life, what we can and can’t say, can and can’t do, what we do with our money, taxes etc. and I’m sick of it, I wanna live in a world where the government is out of my life entirely but the left won’t allow that. That’s why I became a Trump supporter

Right. The big difference seems to be the left wanting everything to be illegal unless it's specifically allowed. Whereas the Right wants everything to be allowed unless it's specifically illegal. For the most part.

2
IthoughtIwalked 2 points ago +2 / -0

True. And it used to be (so I'm told - I'm not that old yet) that both parties disagreed on the solutions to what they both saw as problems. Now, both parties have major problems identified that the other minimizes. Look at climate change and illegal immigration. There is no cross aisle problem solving occurring.

At the same time, the left wants to encroach into our daily lives (as you mentioned) with their massive social agenda. As a result, we have become so polarized, and more and more people are seeing themselves as right wing regardless of previously held views because of this.

1
Desert_Covfefe 1 point ago +1 / -0

It's hard to problem solve with the deaf. For example take global warming, I mean, global cooling, I mean, climate change... Look up Milankovitch cycles and how that's been settled science since the 1950's. Liberals will clutch at anything to hold the purse strings.

The libertarian ideal of leave people alone is inherently flawed and leads to government interference.

1
GoingCamaro 1 point ago +1 / -0

If that were true, the Dems wouldn't be so desperate to get in everyone's faces. Limited government and letting people be people is what we had after the Revolution. Then folks decided to start being cocks.

I suppose in a way that kind of confirms your point, but it's unrealistic and unhealthy to live and breathe politics. There's a reason we're only supposed to care once every two years.

Screw their whining about "radicalizing" or "extremism".

Whenever they show those charts and visuals trying to pretend the USA Republican party is far-right compared to all the parties in the world - laughable. The modern Republcan party (think RINOs) is way too far left - it is more left than the Democrat party was 30 years ago. Imagine if they put the beliefs of our Founding Fathers on those same graphs? They would be so far off the right of their fairy-tale scale it would go off the page/screen.

So what is the point of what I am saying? You don't get to nosedive to the left, embrace radical communist ideas and then turn around to the people who didn't change and say they are radicalized.

10
Formerlurker92 10 points ago +10 / -0

The slow march of leftism is relentless

3
muslimporn 3 points ago +3 / -0

The thing is about this post is that it's exactly what I've been thinking. I keep seeing the left wing talking about far right radicalisation and all the oppressive things they need to do to stop it. My thought pattern after that is that's going to radicalise me against them if anything is.

It's not just what they are saying they want to do but the deceptive way they go about it. It's hard to know what is worse, if they really believe what they are saying or are knowingly lying. Either is awful.

When they describe radicalisation you'll realise what they're actually referring to is little more than disagreeing with what they think the best policy is. For example, not supporting open borders. It will be referring to political dissent. The only things in the equation that is radical and extreme will come from them.

Open borders is radical and extreme. So is what is in effect the notion of wanting to crack down on people using the law and legislation who are doing nothing more than reading things freely and freely conversing. When it comes down to it they not only oppose the free flow of information and the free exchange of thought but free thought itself.

Someone on the right, far right or anywhere can tell me anything they like about the left but it's never going to rank higher as a basis for judgement than seeing the left itself in its true form.

The left sees others as a kind of helpless child at the mercy of tricksters that effectively program them. They think people come here then are converted through through some kind of manipulation a bit like hacking people as part of some kind of conspiracy. They don't conceive that it might be instead that people have seen the left and don't like what they saw. That includes all the arguments that work on them and therefore think would work on us.

They don't really have a comprehension of millions of people all independently coming to the same conclusions when exposed to the same data and then seeking each other out.

I remember the day of my "radicalization" I was talking about religion being bad and going through my edgy atheist teen phase. Then I said and I remember the exact words. "Christianity might have some dumb stuff in it but holy shit have you read the Quran?

That's some truly barbaric shit!" and the response I got was "That's racist. How could you say something like that." and I just couldn't believe that a bunch of people who claimed they did not believe in religion would special plead for a savage dessert death cult.

And then it clicked. These people just hate the West. They just hate everything that helped create it. They will defend anything that can destabilize it. They weren't atheists. They were anti-Christianity. They just wanted the Western belief structure weakened so that the Eastern desert voodoo could come in and supplant it.

Ok, so then what, tax revenue tanks, social services go unfunded, charities lose billions, people get depressed and commit suicide, overdose on drugs, and drink themselves to death - should we not consider the auxillary impact of our plans? Where is the discussion balancing public safety with necessary economics? Also TB kills more every year than covid, can you explain why we lock down for this, but not other diseases?

My big AH-HA moment was right before the election when I decided to brave "the cesspool that is The_Donald". One of the first posts I saw pointed out that all of the big money corporations, all the media and all of the career politicians hated him. But only after he had dared to run against a Democrat.

It was eye opening. That one post challenged me to question my whole world view, and so I did. I don't think I can go back even if I wanted to.

Do I think the president lacks decorum at times? Yeah. He acts like a regular ass dude, shooting the shit with his friends more often than not. He says things that I disagree with every now and again but when you look at the big picture, life as a whole has gotten way way better for the vast majority of us working class people in the past 4ish years. Americans aren't voting for someone to sugar coat touchy subject or write speeches, they're hiring someone to get shit done.

Actions speak louder than words, folks.

No world war 3 happened, no apocalypse. The only violence I've seen from "far right wing extremists" has been from people that show up to defend businesses or counter-protest antifa/BLM.

He's not the most tasteful person in the world, but he has proven to be the most effective. At the end of the day, he gets the job done.

Strike_Eagle784 4 points ago +4 / -0

For me, it was few things, but I'll simplify it here:

  1. To make a long story short, I was adopted shortly after I was born. With the Democrats calling for Nine Month abortions now, I can only imagine what would've happened if my biological parents wanted me aborted...

  2. Democrats embracing Socialism scares me. One half of my adopted family is descended from Jewish Ukrainians who suffered under Stalin's reign of terror. Not all of my adopted family was able to make it to the United States before the Bolsheviks took power, so a small portion of my adopted family's ancestors suffered under Soviet Communism.

  3. Anti Second Amendment. Democrats are obviously radically anti-2A. Losing the ability to protect myself, and my family is a terrifying prospect that I can't afford to lose.

Not that I'm a radical, but these are the principal reasons why I support Trump.

Edit: Sorry for getting a little personal here, but it feels good to vent a little haha.

I agree. I was always fairly conservative growing up, and then I went to college. I'd say I became more libertarian there, but only because I realized gay marriage, marijuana (I've actually never smoked weed, surprisingly), and similar libertarian positions were just better than the neocon conservativism we got post 9/11. I'd say I was always libertarian, just didn't know how to voice it or explain.

And then there was college. And it made me even more entrenched in my beliefs. They always say college is supposed to make you more liberal. Not for me. I went full on libertarian/conservative (I call myself conservatarian) and always said to my parents and friends college made me more right-leaning. I was tired of seeing the attacks on conservatives and similar values. As Greg Gutfeld has said, being on the right is the new punk. I agree. I wasn't originally for President Trump (I wanted Rand Paul, Cruz, and then Trump), but I voted MAGA on election day and dealt with the reeing the day after on campus (luckily I found out a friend of mine who I thought was full liberal was actually MAGA, and she was hot).

It wasn't myself who made me this way, it was the left. You know how those first generation Cubans and people who fled the Soviet Bloc generally vote for the right? Because they saw the horrors? They vote that way because the left made them vote right. They saw it. I'm the same way (although luckily born in America and not having had to deal with state instituted communism).

When they declared that being white and being patriotic... makes you a white supremacist.

This is so on point.

By 2015, I had completely checked out of politics after being burned by both sides. I claimed to be nonpartisan but was really just apathetic.

I might have not voted, but then the liberal crazies couldn't resist attacking my indifference as proof of bigotry and sexism. I was prejudged by total strangers and even people I had known all my life. I wasn't allowed to not take a side.

Apparently, I also wasn't supposed to side against them.

I watch no news and read almost no news websites. Literally Reddit's leftists alone moved me so far to the right that I unironically think we now need to throw these deranged liberals into camps where they remain until they die. These people are fucked in the head beyond redemption. Just look at this shit.

Everyone I know on the left absolutely refuses to listen to anything I say on this subject. It's the left who is radicalizing the right. And it doesn't bother me any more. I'll redpill as many as I can, but most won't change, and are going to get what they're asking for. And many of them don't realize how loudly they're asking.

THIS IS EXACTLY RIGHT

WRONG. We were never radical. Our Founding Fathers were, but the traditions and rights we recognize are the STATUS QUO. They are the radicals. Their survival is a danger to ours.
