From the Gospel according to Matthew:

Now it was the governor’s custom at the festival to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd.

At that time they had a well-known prisoner whose name was Barabbas. So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?”  For he knew it was out of self-interest that they had handed Jesus over to him.

But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.

“Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” asked the governor.

“Barabbas,” they answered.

“What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” Pilate asked.

They all answered, “Crucify him!”

“Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate.

But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!”

Trump isn't Christ - not even close.  He's a sinner, like all of the rest of us.

But it was not for His sins that they wanted Christ dead.

• They say Trump's a racist.  There's no evidence of that, but Biden wrote the 1993 Crime Bill and goes around saying stuff like "you ain't black" if you don't vote for him, or that "poor kids can be just as bright as white kids."

• They say Trump's committed sex crimes.  There's no evidence of that, but Biden goes around groping little girls and he does so so often that you can make twenty minute compilations of it on Youtube.  If he does that on video in public, what is he doing in private?

• They say Trump's irresponsible.  But when Trump shut down travel from China, Biden called him xenophobic, and the whole Democratic Party downplayed the virus for another two months.

• They say Trump's connected to Russia.  There's no evidence of that, but Biden's son got millions of dollars from the mayor of Moscow and he can't explain why.

• They say Trump's disrespectful to the troops.  There's never been any evidence of that, but Biden can call the troops "stupid bastards" on camera and no one cares.

• They say Trump's greedy.  Well, Trump' doesn't take a salary and he's actually the first President to lose money in office, but somehow Biden's a millionaire even though he's only ever been a public servant...how?

• They say Trump's unholy.  But he fights religious freedom, and protects Christian principles.  Meanwhile Biden calls himself a Catholic, but he doesn't seem to have even basic Catholic beliefs (like being pro-life.)

• They say Trump's a tyrant.  But no President has done more to protect the Bill of Rights in my lifetime.  Meanwhile Biden and his supporters push for more censorship, and to take away your guns.

And so on.

So now I finally understand.

It's not about Trump's sins.

Every accusation against Trump - every. single. one - is about distracting voters from the flaws of their own candidate.  They don't care what's true, they all know it's a lie, but they just want things to go back to the way they were when they were in power.  They want to stop Trump.  Because before Trump came along, they had power over other people, and they want that power back.

They had a taste of tyranny, and they want that taste again.

So if cheering for Barabbas stops Trump, they'll cheer for Barabbas.

 For he knew it was out of self-interest that they had handed Jesus over to him.

They don't care that Trump hasn't actually done anything wrong.

“Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate.

But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!”  

All they want is to have their power back, and they're willing to make a deal with the devil to do it.
