It's a process, for the guards - join the Marines, and during boot you take tests, and if you qualify for that kind of MOS, you're sent to the Marine Barracks in DC after infantry training - they staff places like Camp David, etc. The guys at the WH are the best of the best - they consider everything, including how you look. From what i recall, you're gonna do a lot of shit guard duty before being considered for the WH or any high level posts.
I think it's called "Yankee White", it's specialized training and you have to get specific clearances and such. Been a while since I read anything about it.
Former Marine here. You usually have to go in to boot with a 0300 (infantry) route. Than you have to have nothing bad on your record. No PI, drug involvement, etc when you were a civilian. Then you have to pass a top secret clearance. You also have to be in a certain slotted height range so you all look uniform in formation. So you con be selected to be a Marine Security Guard
After infantry school if you still have been a good boy and still want to be a Marine Security Guard you go to that school as well. The prettiest Marines get selected for that post for junior enlisted men.
Now if you done a 4 year enlistment, you can apply to be a Marine Security Guard if you are a NCO and have been a good boy and still look pretty. Pretty much the same process but you are applying as a NCO so qualifications are a little harder
Now if you were selected out of boot camp to be MSG and did your 3 years. You than go to the Marine infantry fleet and realize Marine Grunts are degenerate drunks that are anything but pretty. You are dealing with Marines who have done multiple deployments and hate life. The fleet Marines smell you and it makes them vomit. Than you realize you were never infantry and have a lot of knowledge to catch up on. You will be ridiculed, embarrassed, and hazed, until your pretty face and posture go away and you become just as angary and hatful as everyone else.
I had a former Marine as an instrument flight student a few years ago.
He described the process:
Whole bunch of Marines in a large room.
All with tattoos told to leave.
All with ANY kind of arrest record, sealed or not, told to leave.
All who ever imbibed in marijuana told to leave.
etc.
etc.
Those left were spic and span, clean cut, etc.
He was left and served at WH while Obama was there.
Can any jarhead explain to me how does one get selected for white House duties?

I think its treated roughly the same as embassy duty. It's considered a hardship post due to its nature, but it's still extremely sought after.
Spoken like a true garrison Marine.
Not a marine, you go and apply for it. Only like 4 people in the job though. There's documentaries on it.
yeah it's like winning the fucking lottery basically
except under obummer is was used as discipline.
like Secret Service details for Crooked
