...and when I asked her why, she glared at me and said “I don’t want them to throw my vote away when I vote for President Trump!” Whew...I was worried there for a moment!

If she goes to vote with us, I will be so happy!!

I am a registered Democrat for over 30 years, but I have not voted Democrat for some time. I refuse to change my Democrat designation, "The party left me, I did not leave them". I wouldn't vote for a Democrat now if my life depended upon it. I actually call them Demoncraps. That said, like your daughter, I guess there is a benefit to staying under the Democrat name.

Agreed, but aren't there times when you want to vote in the primaries? Some of these RINOs need to be primaried badly.

zabbers 8 points ago +8 / -0

Or he can help us in the primaries by voting in unelectable crazies. :)

This is the way. :)

...aren't there times when you want to vote in the primaries?

I think there may be more states with open primaries that not. The last two I have lived in have been open so maybe I need to look around more.

I wrote about that back during the primaries and I recounted how much fun I had writing in Donald Trump as my pick. I think there were many others who may have done the same, because write ins nearly eclipsed Bernie Sanders for 2nd place on the ballot. I thought that was hilarious.

If you live in a state like Colorado, depending on what you're registered as that's the only ballot they'll send you. So if you're registered democrat you're only going to be given the options to vote for dems.

Yep

zabbers 5 points ago +5 / -0

Ew. We need to strike that out in the new national voting security bill.

I had no idea about “open primary” voting until today! Does Your state give an option to write in a candidate’s name?

That's where my first thought went too, after reading the title, and was more relieved than anything else once I read the post.

I think this is why they keep looking for ways to count votes after the election is over. That way they can check who didn't vote and vote on their behalf.

6
Feelingspeckekular [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

I didn’t even think of that! Good to know.

Ben45 9 points ago +9 / -0

That's why I haven't bothered changing my registration to Republican.

Also low key waiting for the Lion Party to emerge.

But anyway, what does your registration matter.

300 IQ play right there!

Hear me out on this one... registering as a Democrat is not necessarily a bad idea in some places like NYC where there are no Republicans on the ballot. Primary elections are very important but have very low participation. This is how Democrats keep getting more radicals in office. AOC is much worse than the sleezeball she replaced.

If you live in a one-party state, and you can't help choose the more freedom-loving Republican in the primary because there isn't one, then you can help stop the literal socialist in the Democratic primary.

Whatthelock 4 points ago +4 / -0

I've done this before. It was up against the registration deadline in a heavily Dem area and I didn't want them to lose my registration.

4
SmastaFlex 4 points ago +4 / -0

I do the same. Live in a blue state, voted Obama, then Trump. Don't want to switch registration because of legitimate concern. It doesn't even have to be fraud, because even unconscious "lower priority" or "heightened scrutiny" of signature matching can make a statistical difference.

FirosAhoge 3 points ago +3 / -0

same reason im registered democrat lol

3
lispboy 3 points ago +3 / -0

Same here. I'm still registered as democrat and will change it after 11/3. Never voting blue again.

3
Meatbank84 3 points ago +3 / -0

Now that is outside the box thinking!

3
Salacious_B_Trump 3 points ago +3 / -0

Hopefully you live in an "open primary" state.

3
VetforTrump 3 points ago +3 / -0

Novel idea

3
Likeitirish1 3 points ago +3 / -0

I did the same thing! They didn’t count my vote last election. I’m going to make sure they count it this time.

2
rebuildingMyself 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'm still registered as a Democrat but haven't voted Dem in a long time. Part of it is just pure laziness to change party affiliations (I'm in an open primary state so really doesn't matter).

That’s really interesting!!

Top quality shitpost right here.

Oh that is an awesome lowkey counter-intel move to protect your vote. XD

2
Useful_Vidiots 2 points ago +2 / -0

Interesting. Damn, wish I'd thought of it.

Though, like they're really going to be counting them, for the most part.

2
Feelingspeckekular [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yep! It’s true! Confirmed when her Demo-campaign mail got delivered to our house.

2
lordvon 2 points ago +2 / -0

nice

2
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 2 points ago +2 / -0

Living in Oregon I have to admit to being very tempted to do the same. I know too many Republicans here that have had their ballots rejected due to claimed signature mismatch.

2
iSignedUpForThis 2 points ago +2 / -0

You got me! lol
