Redemption is possible but this lip service wont be sufficient. Maybe 5 years of no pandering or political nonsense (for either side), just raw love of the game for several years.

I don't think they're going to wait five years to see if we forgive them.

They'll see the viewing figures are still shit and go "Well, I guess it wasn't the politics then. The games must have just sucked."

If they want fan forgiveness, they have to come out and admit the riots ARE violent, and that looting, arson, throwing fireworks at police, and blocking traffic are wrong.
