Lincoln's re-election year was 1864.
All you history nerds already know. We were in a civil war.
THE CONFEDERATE STATES HAD ZERO ELECTORAL VOTES
Naturally. They ceded from the Union. It wasn't even close! Only 117 electoral votes were needed to win, and Lincoln got 212 out of a possible 233. (While Tennessee and Louisiana would be back into the fold, their EVs were tossed due to the war.)
With this kind of landslide, LINCOLN HAD NO RISK OF NOT NOMINATING A JUDGE. The Republicans had 32 seats compared to the Democrats' 10. LINCOLN HAD NO RISK OF HIS NOMINEE BEING REJECTED BECAUSE BEARDED MAN BAD.
Don't let the salty cucks tell you that was her swan-song moment. It wasn't. It's just a plastic-banana half-truth spun by spinsters to sound plausible in a plea to give them power.
And of course, if they didn't intend to pack the court, it would be real easy to say "No, I'm not going to pack the court." I just hate that they invoke the name of Lincoln for their manipulative rhetoric.
This is exactly what the guy sitting next to me at the watch party said. Lincoln chose not to because Congress was in recess, and wouldn't be able to act on his choice if he nominated then.
