It's not about generation. It's about the globalist network required to put the pieces together that make the charge stations and batteries. Can't make those without China.
There are a number of battery technologies that should be hitting the market in the next 5 years or less that reduce our dependence on Lithium coming from China.
Gasoline doesn't magically appear and neither does electricity, what's your point here? People that stand around going "Hurr durr power plant derp" are simply showing the world that they aren't any smarter than people thinking electric cars are saving the planet.
correct. the generator that creates the electricity for the charging station is actually miles away, and is transported on miles of wiring with copious I^2*R losses
The energy, the resources to make the car and market it, all fossil fuel. And they used to get a lot of obummer $$$ just to sell an electric car. If your solution is better, then prove it. Don't cheat and give people incentives or ban alternatives, just prove that your solution is superior and the free market will decide.
It is all a scam. Frauds getting rich from taxpayer subsidies.
All the electricity:
Copper mining waste storage piles may be as large as 1,000 acres and typically include three types of waste; tailings, dump and heap leach wastes, and waste rock and overburden.
They never mention that. The acid that is used in the process, the devastation to the environment. Then there is all the battery poisons, and when they are thrown away all the land pollution or energy spent recycling and cleaning up.
Nuclear energy, radioactive waste.
Natural gas, oil, coal, air pollution, toxins.
If they New Green Deal everyone, so they have to burn wood to survive, lots more air pollution.
Even a river flow of water going over a wheel to then move equipment like a millstone, bad for the fish. Geothermal energy, takes a lot of energy and resources to set it all up, and when you release one thing under the ground you might also release poisonous gas.
Need to have basic regulations, and no subsidies so consumers can figure out what they want. Companies can compete, always best, and in different areas different resources will work best.
Most of the "environmental" stuff in the West, especially Europe, is designed to kill off the citizens with Energy Poverty, and also called Fuel Poverty. Denying the population lots of cheap power options, forcing them into one or two options they can't afford, and the people die as they can't heat their house in winter or cool it in summer.
The Yerington/Anaconda Mine Site is an abandoned copper mining, milling, and processing facility. It covers 3,468 acres and is located two miles north of Yerington, Nevada.
The site consists of an office/process facility, an open-pit mine, an overburden dump, sulfide and oxide stockpile dumps, leach pads, tailings and waste rock piles, and evaporation ponds. Naturally occurring radioactive materials including uranium, thorium, and radium, are present at the site and have become concentrated in some areas due to mining processes.
To date, EPA has conducted five separate removal actions at the site.
Am not against any forms of power generation, and this would seem to be the usual proof that the solar/wind only people never think about how much copper they would need and the damage the process to produce it would cause.
Reminds me of that Top Gear episode where they made an electric car called "Geff" and the 1st attempt the batteries ran out very quickly. So James May added a giant Diesel motor to keep it charged going down the road. It was so loud while filming them going down the road they had to use subtitles
Well to be really fair the static diesel motor has at least double the efficiency of an internal combustion engine that you buy for under 2000 dollars and operate with your feet.
The problem is the manufacturing of EV -- they wound up costing the same "to the environment".
The big boon of a nation-wide EV fleet is that you can have them as a huge system battery that can feed the grid during peak load times (people in their homes with the car plugged in at the garage) and this smoothes the load curve. The smoother the load curve (ie., constant and predictable) the less you need active dispatching of costlier sources: we can just run on a nuclear energy efficient baseline, producing surplus at night, storing in the vehicles, and then the vehicles feed back the grid during deficits.
You can't just immediately arrive at the end state. In many cases you're going to need to use fossil fuels to generate the electricity when a connection to the grid is not available.
It's about decoupling cars from gas. Step one is to deploy the charging stations and get people off gas cars. Then you can work on replacing the gas infrastructure with grid power or renewable sources.
AOC is an idiot but this kind of thing fits within a long term roll out plan
EV is like highly processed foods. I look forward to the popping of the bubble. What a scam. Battery manufacturing is 1000 times worse to the environment than burning fuels.
She Can't, she's ignorant to reality and how Electricity is generated.
It's not about generation. It's about the globalist network required to put the pieces together that make the charge stations and batteries. Can't make those without China.
All roads are leading back to China
All roads lead back to an Elite tribe, too.
Well, since communism is a Tribe sort of thing, you can imagine who came up with it.

Its because public utilities are a grift machine. Gasoline is controlled by oil cartels.
That's a backup generator for the property the charger is located on...This is the kind of shit that makes us look stupid.
I swear to God I don't know how some of you figure out how to breathe.
Yeah there is no way this generator doesn't serve the building and the car charger is on the grid.
There's a lot of people online who don't get out enough
The symbol of how electricity is generated is still applicable.
No it's not.
Gasoline doesn't magically appear and neither does electricity, what's your point here? People that stand around going "Hurr durr power plant derp" are simply showing the world that they aren't any smarter than people thinking electric cars are saving the planet.
Guess what, they're both idiots.
There's a big difference between refining fossil fuels and generating electricity FROM fossil fuels.
Fyi coal and natural gas, which a majority of electricity is generated from, is literally extracted from the ground.
You sound like you're fresh off the boat from Reddit with your irrational anger and bombastic display of arrogance while calling other people dumb.
correct. the generator that creates the electricity for the charging station is actually miles away, and is transported on miles of wiring with copious I^2*R losses
Now do gasoline.
Why you make the energy right in your car!
Yeah, a generator that powers a charging station? mods can we get this retarded ass Karen Facebook meme selected?
My dad refers to electic cars as “coal powered,” since the energy is coming from a power plant.
The energy, the resources to make the car and market it, all fossil fuel. And they used to get a lot of obummer $$$ just to sell an electric car. If your solution is better, then prove it. Our enemies oppose a free market.
To be fair, that diesel engine is ridiculously efficient compared to several gasoline vehicles.
Yes. And it’s merely a backup generator anyway.
There is no "green" energy.
It is all a scam. Frauds getting rich from taxpayer subsidies.

Did have a look.
Found this too:

I’m all for hydrogen cars run off hydrogen generators powered by solar panels or a windmill. That’s just cool stuff for around town driving.
But sadly, China holds all the metal hydride sources used to store large amounts of hydrogen in a small space.
China is ......
Wretched is correct.
Hydrogen is not appropriate for people pumping their own fuel. It is super unsafe.
I came here to say things but many of you beat me to it. Please bash aoc responsibly.
I don't care about this, the answer is simple.

You guys should see the charging stations in her district, they have become dope shooting cabanas .Especially the ones with the solar panel roofs
