I’ve lived in NYC all my life, voted blue for the elections I could vote in, and since Trump got elected I’ve been seeing just how disgusting and dishonest the entire establishment is. Trump gave me tax cuts, a safer border, and patriotism back to the White House. All Cuomo did here was destroy this economy and kill old people during the covid crisis. Which is over, btw. But people here still have the blue no matter who mentality despite everything that was done to them by democrats. Me and my gf want to leave already to raise a family in a red state like Texas, but the way the job market is here there’s no way to save money and we’re struggling. Despite that I want to say thank you to everyone on here, since t_d days on reddit, for helping to open my eyes to the truth so I don’t keep living a comfortable lie with what’s going on. God bless you guys and I hope everyone here is safe and secure.

Edit: thank you so much guys for your support, I’ve never been a part of a community that’s so welcoming and honest like this. I’ll do my best to try and scrounge up what I can to move in the next few years, me and lovely, equally Trump loving gf are ready to have a family in a good red state far away from nyc. Also got a Parler if anyone wants, @conservativenursedave. I’m honored to be a part of all this now, thank you everyone!

I have been a red pill NYC resident for my entire life. It has been frustrating to watch the greatest city in the world go down the tubes. Please bring your blue friends to the red side.

39
Davkav [S] 39 points ago +39 / -0

My whole family is as hard of Trump supporters as you can be and moved to red states long ago. Just me and my misses left, we’re just trying to save enough to do so but even for us nurses the economy has been poop and there’s less work available

28
SHALL_NOT 28 points ago +29 / -1

If you are both nurses, especially if you’re RN, look for rural areas with bad shortages. They will often give you relocation bonuses.

8
faintpremonition 8 points ago +8 / -0

Look into Delaware. It's not a red state but it's a great place to raise a family, especially Kent and Sussex county. DM me if you look into it seriously. There are lots of hospitals here and lots of need for nurses.

4
Davkav [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

I actually lived in Delaware for a year! It was good, just a little boring. If it was warmer I wouldn’t mind moving there.

4
babyyoda 4 points ago +4 / -0

Do travel nursing! They pay for your lodging and it gets your foot in a hospital. I did it when I moved to CA (not there anymore left) and it helped us tons b/c it gave us a few months to find a place in SF when housing was hard to come by, and the pay is great. They always renew the contracts too. The hospital I worked for is one of the best hospital in the county and they hired me with great pay after my three month contract. Also, if you are both nurses you can have one take housing and the other just get the pay out for no housing. Also, don't claim residence in the state you are travel working for nursing b/c housing will be taxed:)

4
Crimson_Identity 4 points ago +4 / -0

Idaho needs RN's, and many companies may pay for relocation.

4
SuperSilly 4 points ago +4 / -0

it's better to be broke in Texas! I lived in NY state for 10 years I'm happily back home in Texas now where you are allowed to be proud.

The damage done here is irreparable. The rich have fled for good and the police are without power here. New York is turning back into the 80s shithole it was prior

10
ColdBrewCovfefe 10 points ago +10 / -0

That’s wild. I keep reading people talking about it, but its not being spoken like that in the news.

8
Two_Scoops__ 8 points ago +8 / -0

Not only that. I saw a report saying only 10% of office workers are back to work physically in NYC. That's gonna do so much damage when people realize they don't have to pay the high price of living in NYC to work in NYC. Once they make the decision to skip the city, there's no going back. NYC will have lost it's glam and it won't ever get it back.

Former lifelong NYCer here, and you are making the right decision to leave to raise a family. I grew up in the 80s/early 90s and getting mugged 3 times (once at gunpoint) on the Upper East Side is something that stays with me to this day - and something the city is rapidly returning to (70s/80s level crime) Certainly not a place you want to raise a family, especially when the City/State combine for ~13% taxes on top of Uncle Sam!

16
bahhumbugger 16 points ago +16 / -0

Don't leave Pede.

Manhattan for 20 years. Wife, 2 kids. Many friends who are republican (all are People of Color).

This city needs you, me and all the rest of us to get through this.

1

There are insane amounts of fraudulent leftie votes in Texas. I really don't think it'll turn Dem without fraud.

8
RagnarDannes 8 points ago +8 / -0

Dude trust me, get out now!

I moved from NY to the great state of North Carolina. In NY I had enough money to pay rent for a hole of an apartment (without a friggin kitchen), cover my minimums on the loans, and that’s it. In 4 years my net worth floated at -$40,000. I had less than a months expenses in the bank.

My (now) fiancé helped push me to move out, threw out nearly everything I owned and moved to a red state. In a few years living in NC I brought that worth up by $200,000!

NY has 2 classes of people, rich elites, and poor. If you are not one of those rich elites, you can expect them to force you into the lower class.

Leaving now, even if you can only take what fits in your car will be the start of your successful life. It’s just stuff, the money you save and earn in a red state can buy it all back in a year.

7
physicscat 7 points ago +7 / -0

Come to Georgia. We need more red voters.

3
Davkav [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

Dude that was my first choice, but the lack of oceans is a dealbreaker for us surfers

1
incogneato 1 point ago +1 / -0

Texas has great surfing around Corpus Christi, Padre Island, and other places!

2
Davkav [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Looking at Houston for years now, actually had enough saved for a downpayment but then Cuomo forced me out of work and I had to use that money to keep me and my gf afloat. Just got to keep going, but it'll take years to recoup...

FuckRedditWithADildo 3 points ago +3 / -0

Jersey pede originally from nyc here...

These Vote blue no matter who states put everyone except the elite in a almost perpetual state of poverty with the extremely high taxes and cost of living.

It's all a big plan to keep you as working poor and stuck in NYC for as long as possible. Same thing is happening in East California, I mean New Jersey...

My advice is to try and leech off family while saving, or downsize to a studio or smaller apartment for a year in a cheaper area if possible.

Then take whatever savings you have and RUN FOR THE HILLS.

I'm trying to find a decent construction accounting gig in Idaho or Texas to GTFO out of NJ Best of luck

2
Huskereyez 2 points ago +2 / -0

If you come to Nebraska stay out of Omaha and Lincoln. Every election they inch us closer and closer to blue. It’s very frustrating.

2
ModernKnight 2 points ago +2 / -0

Welcome, and we're glad to have you on the Trump Train! Until you can get out, keep up the good fight behind enemy lines!

2
JwPATX 2 points ago +2 / -0

Look for jobs in Texas/they’d probably be glad to do zoom interviews these days. The cost of living here isn’t anywhere near NY, unless you’re one of those people that HAS to live downtown, and lenders will approve mortgages based on future earnings with a w-2 job.

2
Sealith 2 points ago +2 / -0

“No way to save money”

I’m beginning to notice a common attribute of these cities is that it’s a real struggle to get out. You’re constantly fucked over by their laughably high costs of living and tax rates and have no extra money left over to gtfo.

2
call-it-like-i-sees 2 points ago +2 / -0

Come to Georgia! Lots of jobs, really low cost of living, temperate climate, diverse geography, and we love families. We even have a governor who is a gun nut but very pragmatic - what could be better than that?

2
ekos640 2 points ago +2 / -0

if you ever do move, just remember the things you realize now you were wrong on, and realize there could be more you just haven't realized yet. be open minded. and don't vote in the same shit there as you did back then.

2
Davkav [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Absolutely. Not bringing the blue problem down there to you guys

2
ginnydyer 2 points ago +2 / -0

If you really believe it is in you and your future family's best interest, then don't keep putting it off. Just go. Struggle forever in NYC, or struggle temporarily somewhere else. You can start planning and set a date to leave by, or you can go now and figure it out when you get there. You will do just fine either way.

2
not_a_shill 2 points ago +2 / -0

Share this same story on your social media. But besure to throw a nice rare Pepe or something in there to spice it up,cus no ones going to read a wall of text.

4
Davkav [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

I did, ignored and ostracized. People really think the politicians that wrecked the city are in their best interests

2
not_a_shill 2 points ago +2 / -0

Like I said, try putting a Pepe in it. lol.

2
sordfysh 2 points ago +2 / -0

Find a job that pays well where you want to live, then get a loan to make the move. Not credit card debt if you can avoid it, although there are credit cards that will take your debt from another card and give you a low interest rate to pay that off. Find something with an interest rate below 10%.

I know that debt is not good, especially for living costs, but this is something that will make you better off in the long run and more capable of paying off the loan. Loans are good to use for things that make improvements in your saving capabilities.

2
brother_seamus 2 points ago +2 / -0

Once our kids arrived, we left for North Philly suburbs. Our area is blue-ish, and we're 90 minutes from Bay Ridge, 90 minutes from downtown. Another option is driving to Pricenton and then taking the train into Penn, which is a bit of best of both worlds.

The job market in NY was good, but the cost of living there was out of control, and the slow crush of impending socialism is pretty scary. We look back now and we're happy we got out when we did, even though we miss it.

2
quodvox 2 points ago +2 / -0

Good luck, proto-Pede! One thing to carefully consider about your finances for moving - compare your tax burden in NYC vs. (especially) an state-income-tax-free place like TX. You may find that the extra money is right there. It will still take some money to get established, and the job market is going to be a factor, but I hope you'll be able to move sooner than you think once you dig into the numbers.

PRIMARY THE RINOS

There is a new wave of Republicans coming up, ones that value freedom, safety, law and order, and personal achievement. The way to ensure the new republican party is the party of America is to register republican and primary the RINOS.

Hell I bet you at least 10% of people here would be in favor of some form of public option health care so that nobody has to go without coverage. I know I am, but I want it administered by the states.

2
RockapulcoRedpill 2 points ago +2 / -0

Come to Rockaway !!

2
Lol_Garrus 2 points ago +2 / -0

There are a lot of places you could move to. For example, when my parents moved out of NY (Long Island) we sold our 1,300 sq ft house and bought a 4bd/3bth 2,800 sq ft house for cheaper in SC.

It could be the same situation for you. Where you make money by moving into a bigger and better house.

You would just have to worry about moving expenses (truck, gas, etc) which isnt too serious.

What field of work are you in?

4
Davkav [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

I work as a nurse, which would be great but even this field has been negatively affected and I have student loans out the wazoo that I’m trying to reign in

1
Lol_Garrus 1 point ago +1 / -0

Do some research. In my area (Charlotte suburbs), there is a high demand for nurses due to a lot of retirement communities and neighborhoods. I know in my area, you wouldnt have trouble finding a nursing job.

Try and look for areas that have desirable factors (good schools, low crime, low costs, good economy) and make a list.

Then, in said areas, look for homes and jobs until you find something suitable.

If you dont mind me asking, what is the current market value of your current house and how many beds/baths/sq ft?

1
Dasflash 1 point ago +1 / -0

Moved out of Queens for North Carolina back in April because the work let me do permanent remote. Greatest decision I ever made for my family.

1
DebbieinDallas 1 point ago +1 / -0

Get out now while you are still young and before you start your family. It will only get harder the longer you wait. I left NY when I was 18 amd never looked back. So many excitng opportunities are available to you when you are young and physically energetic and not a care in the world. The older you get, you settle for what you have because you are more risk-averse. When you are young and just starting out, risk isnt even part of your vocabulary. Plus, better to leave when Trump is Pres bec once the Dems get back in (eventually and God help us) your job prospects will be dismal.

1
RMD00 1 point ago +1 / -0

A friend of mine moved from Upper West Manhattan to Houston. Took him about 3 months to get out of the NY mindset. Now he's all aboard the Trump Train and is glad to be out. Even if a chunk of his family doesn't like it.

2
Davkav [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'd say she looks very fine from all sides, but then that'd get me called a bigot or something by buzzfeed. No brakes though, in a few years I can recoup my cuomo driven losses and get out of here

1
Smurfection 1 point ago +1 / -0

I moved out of Minneapolis last year. I had no conservative or Republican friends in Minneapolis and felt like a foreigner in my home city. I moved to a small town. Life is good. I hope you can get out sooner rather than later. Good luck to you and yours, Pede!

1
Davkav [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Thank you! We're trying to leave here soon, it'll take a few years due to losses from the covid restrictions but small town or suburbs far far away is exactly what we're looking for.

1
Smurfection 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm tellin' ya, keep to your goals because you're going to love it when you finally leave. to be honest, I had no idea how stressed city life made me until I moved to a small town.
