It’s because they don’t want to give us any of the satisfying moments that would normally happen. Debates are one thing, but they also wanted to stop rallies and I think what they ESPECIALLY wanted to stop is dramatic Congressional hearings where people like Comey and McCabe and Brennan have to testify live on TV before the nation in an in-person historical event. Look at how that worked for Mueller. He was humiliated and exposed. Now compare that to Comey’s recent testimony. Did anyone watch? I didn’t. Because it just looked like a Zoom call. All the historical gravitas was gone because it was virtual. These people know what they are doing. This is a way to scrub these events from the history books. People will continue to watch those Kavanaugh hearings - the public has a clear memory of those events - but Comey on Zoom, glitching out, sitting in his pajamas on a low-resolution camera? Historians aren’t likely to bother with that. They will just ignore it and focus on the HD footage of “real” things that happened. All the “virtual” stuff is designed to be forgotten.
