Her own party didn't want her to be president back when she campaigned, why would they want her now?

They did want her. The DNC likes to maintain the illusion that they allow the people to decide who their candidate will be just like they did with hillary back in 2016. Cum allah was always supposed to be the nominee but Tulsi ruined that for them and gave her no option other than to drop out in shame. Making her the VP pick so she can take over a year later is the best they could do.
