Absolutely not, and not for reasons concerning marijuana.
Legalization or decriminalization is best left to individual states. We do not need a federal level policy on this that will be wielded like a leash on citizens in future elections. I want the federal government to stay out of my business on things of this nature.
Trump has already weighed in on this debate by not acting upon the issue. Proof? Look at all the other areas such as funding for states with sanctuary cities, laize faire attitudes on rioters, federal ban on critical race theory teaching, etc.
Kamala's bullshit promise is nothing but. It implies the same thing as when they insinuate that Republicans will take away social security. What they are really hoping for is a blind addiction to Democrat fear mongering.
Trump is a teetotaler, offers his opinions, but has a steadfast belief that Americans can make their own decisions. He's not out there insisting that everyone who uses marijuana will turn into Mayor DeBlasio.
But keeping it federally illegal IS a federal policy. If he makes it legal then it is out of their hands and the states can then decide whether or not they want to allow it.
That's precisely what legalization would entail. No one would stop individual states from making it illegal if they so choose. What's currently happening, is that even in states where it's legal, they can't use a bank in any way, even to process credit cards or take out a loan, since it's federally illegal.
This. Fed Gov is not legalizing it - they are making it no longer illegal. Sounds like the same thing but it really isn't. States would be free to make their own laws with regards to it.
Republicans need to REMIND voters how the USA is supposed to work.. It's supposed to be 50 separate countries that are UNITED for specific reasons - commerce, national defense and handling between states disputes.
Federal Government is NOT supposed to be a do everything organization. It's not supposed to provide education, welfare, medical care etc to every state. That's up to every state to decide.
This is why we have an electoral college. If things were working correctly the President election wouldn't be a huge deal because they would be limited to dealing with Federal things.
The left has changed the Presidency to be a supreme dictator type who can do anything down to bathrooms with executive orders. All of that should be unconstitutional.
I am afraid that 90% of Reps and 99.9% of Dims don't know that.
Same with the general population. Shit, I still have to explain this to pedes all the time.
Congress has enumerated powers. They can't just go legislating and controlling everything under the sun using the Commerce Clause or whatever other commie fuckery they use.
Even if it's something I 100% support, like death to baby rapists, IT'S NOT FEDERAL!!!
We definitely need the Federal government to not consider Wacky Tobacky a Schedule 1 substance anymore. That is some Jeff Sessions level refer madness shit.
