In her Senate campaign she arrested the CEO of Backpage.com for illegal content posted by third parties to the Craigslist competitor. Reading through the legal argument Harris team describes reporting infringing content, and Backpage removing infringing content quickly after being notified -- a company working in compliance with Section 230.
The standard on which that arrest was made was protected by Section 230. On that argument Google search is far more egregious violator based on how much illegal content by third parties is indexed by their products, or Twitter based on volume, any web business has to navigate how to respond to content posted by third parties in timely manner.
This was particularly egregious because prior to this arrest Kamala Harris had co-signed a letter to the Senate describing impact of Section 230 on their work and arguing for legislation to put holes into Section 230 protections. That demonstrated sufficient understanding of those protections that at time of arresting the CEO of Backpage she would have known the charges would go no where.
Kamala got headlines for the arrest. Rode them into the Senate. Then CEO of Backpage walked, charges dismissed, and taxpayers stuck with the bill for a wrongful arrest.
That does not dismiss there was slimy activity taking place at Backpage that I believe the company eventually folded as a result of, but when Backpage caved a proper case was made.
What Kamala did was abuse her position to improperly prosecute a case for headlines for political purpose (land her job in the Senate). That's a show of poor character. Begs the question where she has received the boost to her career in return for a willingness to compromise ethics. Turn blind eye to the criminal activity of some parties while busying herself going after smaller players. The show of poor character demonstrated she cannot be trusted with power.
Thus, unqualified for the Senate and should never have held that office.
The question is what is it with her trip to Martha's Vineyard in 2016 that convinced the socialites there to back her for a Presidential bid. There's a rotten smell coming out of Martha's Vineyard that needs inspection, debridement to remove dead tissue, and wrapped up to save the leg.
You can't stop it, like drug use. People will always find ways to do it. They don't call it the oldest profession in the world for nothing. So might as well use that and tax it. You want to sell your body? Sure. I'm not going to stop you.
What I don't approve of, is bringing children into the mix. That is why Backpage was ultimately shut down. From what I remember, there were ads for girls who ended up being underage. Not super obviously underage, like preteen stuff, but under the legal age of 18. You had a bunch of 15-17 year olds on there either doing it themselves or being pushed by a pimp.
If brothels were legal, it wont stop traffickers, but it will definitely create a safer environment for those who work without pimps and freelance. There will still be illegal prostitution, no doubt, but why do that when you could just go to your local brothel and get the same thing in a clean, safe environment?
The show of poor character demonstrated she cannot be trusted with power.
Her demonstration of supremely poor ethics is precisely why the corrupted officials above her trusted her to be in power beneath them. She will do whatever they say, and she will always act out of self-interest not morals. Self-interest is controllable. Morality is not.
They really do live in a mirror reality where lack of ethics and conscience is a useful and desirable trait.
This is where the case went after Kamala had ridden off onto the Senate.
I believe I'm focused on prior events, quoting from the TDS-infected technology and law blog Techdirt. Deeper dive can be found searching their archives for Kamala.
Do you know anything about her claim about prosecuting for-profit colleges that allegedly targeted veterans? The VP debate was the first I heard of that. I assumed it was campaign puffery and didn't believe much she said after she wheeled back her stance on fracking.
Harris was unqualified for the Senate.

Backpage was a honeypot to bust Johns.
I prefer a much more productive use of my tax dollars although prostitution is a hotbed for crime.
Jokingly, my friend said once said that is the most honest transaction there is
I'm 100% legalizing it.

Agreed, Pede.
Brilliant write up. Let me add...
Her demonstration of supremely poor ethics is precisely why the corrupted officials above her trusted her to be in power beneath them. She will do whatever they say, and she will always act out of self-interest not morals. Self-interest is controllable. Morality is not.

She blew her way to the top
I thought the CEO of Backpage pleaded guilty to state and federal charges and also agreed to testify against the two owners of Backpage: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/true-crime/wp/2018/04/13/backpage-ceo-carl-ferrer-pleads-guilty-in-three-states-agrees-to-testify-against-other-website-officials/
Have there been subsequent developments?

Got it.
