You can't stop it, like drug use. People will always find ways to do it. They don't call it the oldest profession in the world for nothing. So might as well use that and tax it. You want to sell your body? Sure. I'm not going to stop you.
What I don't approve of, is bringing children into the mix. That is why Backpage was ultimately shut down. From what I remember, there were ads for girls who ended up being underage. Not super obviously underage, like preteen stuff, but under the legal age of 18. You had a bunch of 15-17 year olds on there either doing it themselves or being pushed by a pimp.
If brothels were legal, it wont stop traffickers, but it will definitely create a safer environment for those who work without pimps and freelance. There will still be illegal prostitution, no doubt, but why do that when you could just go to your local brothel and get the same thing in a clean, safe environment?
Prostitution has existed in every society and civilization, ever. No government has ever been able to stop it, not USSR at the height of it's power, not China, not Nazi Germany, the Roman Empire, nobody.
legalizing and regulating it is the most beneficial to society, even if parts of society find it distasteful.
I prefer a much more productive use of my tax dollars although prostitution is a hotbed for crime.
Jokingly, my friend said once said that is the most honest transaction there is
I'm 100% legalizing it.
