When you start tracking exactly how much you are paying in taxes for everything it gets ugly. Fed Income tax, state income tax, property tax, sales tax(local and state), fuel tax(federal and state), sin tax on tobacco/alcohol/pot, electronics fees, CRV, vehicle taxes and fees, etc, etc.

Pretty much. I'd really like to live somewhere with low/no state taxes and the space/climate to be a lot more self sufficient.
