With distance it is easier to do things like send cards/gifts on holidays instead of visit or call which minimizes your frustration. The reduction in contact will make your life more peaceful. I do this with my mother - she is so brainwashed by CNN and MSNBC, not a rational thought lives in her head regarding politics. She exudes crazy whenever the topic comes up. Build your new life the way you want it and don't look back!
