Yeah a real failing by the founders. Impeachment of a president was necessary to draft up on how that would and should be used when the criteria is met. But they did not give a prescription on what to do if a batshit Speaker of The House attempts a coup of the president. Like.....we literally have nothing, no statute or document for such a scenario?

I always say I wish at the very least it should work like a challenge does in sports. If your challenge fails, you lose something. At the very least, they should be barred from creating motions/investigations. Honestly I really feel like an impeachment should result in you losing your seat if you initiate it. Imagine that there was a someone in the WH that was doing some bad things, but they set it up so that an impeachment against them would fail because of some sort of forethought they gave it. With what you're saying, now the people bringing impeachment against this legitimately bad person are not only unable to find another way, but they're getting punished for not being able to prove their case sufficiently? If you go against the Constitution legislatively it should get you thrown into jail by default, instantly, automatically.
