Yeah a real failing by the founders. Impeachment of a president was necessary to draft up on how that would and should be used when the criteria is met. But they did not give a prescription on what to do if a batshit Speaker of The House attempts a coup of the president. Like.....we literally have nothing, no statute or document for such a scenario? I mean really???

I always say I wish at the very least it should work like a challenge does in sports. If your challenge fails, you lose something. At the very least, they should be barred from creating motions/investigations. Honestly I really feel like an impeachment should result in you losing your seat if you initiate it. That would prevent bullshit ones for sure.

Possible fixes:

If an impeachment fails, those who voted for impeachment lose their seat.

Impeachment must first take a full up-down vote to initiate before any subcommittee hearings or full floor hearings.
