Physical touching, in public is not as common, on the whole, and especially between people of disparate economic status. Most shops are set up so you have to ask an attendant to get items for you. Customers are not allowed to browse through a store and inspect items so, maybe less cross contamination. Herd Immunity must also be playing a big role.
