I work with a Venezuelan engineer and talk to him all about events in his country, starting back when the army was trying to fracture and the helicopter pilot threw a hand grenade at the presidential palace. He is far wealthier than his typical countryman, and after a while I got a feel for the underlying social dynamic.
I felt bad for those people. Why doesn't Trump do something, I thought. The reason is that they are socialists who just want a different form of socialism. They do not want to cast off socialism. They just want a nicer ruler.
There is no reason to help them unless they embrace liberty and a free market economy devoid of corruption and graft. Until then they can wallow in their shithole.
