Yeah, the razor blades are going to get you in trouble, but if I was defense counsel for this guy’s insurance company I’d ask to see the policies and procedures stating it was practice for the town employees to enter onto someone’s property without consent of the homeowner and remove property.

That just doesn’t happen.

You typically need to send notice of non-compliance and start imposing fees. In order to come on the property without consent, you’d need the sherif who would need court approval.

Did he contact the homeowner to request the signs be moved back a few feet?

and I bet someone is already trying to sue the homeowner for it. Same bullshit as if you have a pool...in some places if you don't have, to the letter of the local code, the "proper" barriers in place to keep randos out of your pool, some person trespasses, and tries to get in your pool and lets say they slip and hurt themselves, yeah they might be convicted of trespassing, but their shyster lawyer might get you on charges that the pool was not properly safeguarded against people going in unattended. In other words, you were trespassed against but they take you down with them over a technicality.

Wouldn't be surprised if the perp tries to sue for injury over this and a shyster lawyer finds some technicality that claims protecting your campaign sign with something that could injure a sign stealer is illegal.

Yeah, this is going to be a lawsuit and its a shame. A small, covered trench of dog poop would have been equally nice. I like the video that was on here with the sprayer filled with dead skunk juice soaking a sign thief. No one was hurt, but they won't ever forget.

The razor blades aren't booby traps, they're used to deter birds from roosting on the signs . And they're environmentally friendly!
