Excellent point! Then when the demand shifts to USA or other production, the products will be made with far stricter compliance to environmental laws. China = pollution, poison, prison labor, etc.

If you are a true environmentalist you would want everything you consume to be produced within 600 miles of where you live.
The Trump administration has done an excellent job of cleaning up superfund sites. Here's a link to the Politico article that give begrudging praise.
