When I was in school we read an account from a Muslim trader about contact with the Rus people in what is modern day Ukraine. He described how the Rus would all wash their hands and beards and face out of the same bowl before dinner. He described how they'd blow their nose into their hands and wash it in the bowl, and pick their teeth and spit into the bowl and then pass it on to the next person so that it was utterly befouled by the time it made it around the table. He also described bad eating habits and bathing habits and public sex and all kids of stuff.

We were taught from this text basically that white man bad and that Muslims had this great and modern civilization while our ancestors were still barbarians.

Then we turned around a while later and read about a British account of the Chinese peasants who blew their noses into their hands, and molested unaccompanied women, and ate all sorts of weird shit, and etc.

This was an example of white man bad because assigning western standards of behavior on another culture.

This was fifteen years ago at a conservative Christian College. This shit has been infiltrating everything for a really long time.

Meanwhile, the first Japanese account of America is basically "yeah, these guys are awesome"

And the first US account of Japan is basically "yeah, these guys are awesome but holy crap they're poor"

Our cultures are so compatible for being so different. Shame that the imperial Military Industrial Complex led them down the road that it did in the 20th. But let that be a lesson for us all

I dunno what it is about the Japanese but I've always found them appealing, I think it's their aesthetic sense more than anything else. Traditional Chinese architecture is interesting but very garish and in your face, traditional Japanese architecture is precise, subtle, and beautiful.

I love how they failed to mention that it is par the course for Muslims to look down on non Muslims particularly polytheists and see them as subhuman. It was a real eye opener to read what the Koran and Hadith actually tells Muslims to believe.

its really not that hard to tell the difference. just like white people once you know the differences they are easier to spot.

Well said. I have a strong lifelong case of yellow fever, and while physical attractiveness can occur anywhere, it's striking how many random model-caliber women I encountered in the Czech Republic.
