Also of note is the effect that one person not wearing a mask can have on others. There have been times where I will be around a group of other people and be the only one not wearing a mask. Usually after a few minutes, at least 1/2 of the people there will have removed their masks. If we are together long enough, everyone will eventually take off the masks.
I'm never rude or adversarial about it. In fact I don't bring up masks at all. It just happens.
The place where I volunteer at isn't open to the public right now, but when you're there, masks are optional. We're having a yard sale though this weekend where they are required, but I think that's just to placate any Karens.
