I don't think so. We fought a war against their armies before (Korean War). We had almost dominated the entirety of Korea and their army just SWARMED in and pushed us all the way out of the country. We then fought back halfway to the 38th parallel.
So the result was a tie. And that was a limited engagement. Imagine that across the entire world, a tie between the world's 2 most powerful countries. The devastation would be unbelievable.
I agree the CCP will try and avoid a hot war with the US and allies--which is all the more reason to press them hard, and to keep pressing. We should start by introducing a security council resolution recognizing Taiwan's right to self-determination. When China vetos, the US should convene a conference of democratic nations to independently ratify the resolution.
On another point, I believe China does have a useful submarine fleet.
And on another, I'd like to see some talk from military notables about how easy it will be to take out each of those artificial islands in the South China Sea with dial-a-yield tactical nukes. Precision surgical excisions!

If you’ve ever studied Chinese history you’ll know that they’ve always had corrupt government and excel at bribing powerful figures and nations (sound familiar). They are excellent puppet masters and their strings extend worldwide.
A hot war would expose their treachery and root out their puppets. Yeah they are asshoes but they aren’t imbeciles. That’s what makes them especially dangerous.
Don't underestimate the chinks. Don't think for a second they won't engage in asymmetric warfare on US soil if things get hot.

decapitating the party,with the goal of breaking China into 5 or 6 different countries, would be the most likely strategy
