I don't understand saying "I have these and I'll release them." JUST RELEASE THEM. You're just providing them a chance to kill you or prepare their "these are really nothing" arguments.
Maybe they have a process for uploading it. Even Wikileaks took time to authenticate everything upload, catalog, and make it keyword searchable via database which involves IT time. Also emails in their native format may not be readable files, so may need to be converted to text and remove all the header junk info that is garbled and not useful info.
