Bush had strong support with older midwestern evangelicals (read: bible thumpers), many of whom are turned off by Trump's brash New York style. These are the people who actually care whether or not he porked Stormy Daniels.

I know a lot of these bible thumpers, as I grew up in and around large evangelical churches, and the ones I know can't stand Bush especially since he's bad-mouthed Trump. Trump is the most pro life president we've ever had, that carries a LOT of weight. The Stormy Daniels thing is also a non issue to the ones I know at least. They didn't elect the guy thinking he was or was going to be a saint. They elected him to fix shit.

I think many perspectives have been realigned post-Obama.
