He has 50M weekly listeners so yes this is not out of the realm of possibility

I've always been curious how they can determine radio listeners. I'm an older pede and they used to count "listeners" as how many people their radio waves reached. Whether those people tuned in or not is impossible to say, but if youre broadcasting to 20m you tell your audience you have 20m listeners.

It's never seemed to have an accurate or legitimate measurement method

Someone else answered that in this thread

Big ooof doggerino. You're supposed to link me exactly to the answer, number 1. Number 2, if I don't like the source then I'll make a quirky remark.

Something like "it's almost as if...(then I enter russia or racism)". This cookie cutter format is what gets the votes buddy. Educate yourself cause it's not a good look.

/S in case it was missed ;)

Definitely! Time value of money is a powerful thing. Even a few years head start can equate to huge gains a few decades down the road.

Serious question: how the hell do they figure out radio ratings

10
MsQleo 10 points ago +10 / -0

That's the trick. for the Broadcast Radio portion all they can estimate is the Potential Audience Reach in each area their broadcast goes out to.

HOWEVER; Streaming Services such as iHeart Radio and Youtube, the Rush Limbaugh App (Which has a ton of users) etc all have guaranteed metrics and they will add all of that and then estimate the broadcast numbers using an archaic and unreliable system or the newer Niellson PPM's - then throw out a number

The_RedWolf 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yeah the streams I figured had fairly accurate stats but the terrestrial radio ones I couldn’t figure out

4
CousinEddie 4 points ago +4 / -0

I made a comment earlier and just saw this. I'm in my 40s and the radio trick was always "your audience is as big as your airwave reach".

If you bought a big enough station in chicago and it hit 9m people, then you tell marketing you have 9m listeners. Whether they tune in is irrelevant, it's reach that matters.

Rush got hammered for this back in the 00s when the internet really ramped up in normal use. He was claiming 20m listeners but it was impossible to verify that. The curtain got pulled back hard on terrestrial radio in those days. They were being smashed by satellite, streaming was brand new, and people were sick of the bullshit. So the stories of terrestrial radio fuckery were en vogue

That makes sense

I didn't listen because it was a bit involving to listening to the live radio show. I had to sign up to get into the Rush's site, and I don't know if they live stream his show. What I mean is that there will be a lot of Trump supporters who didn't listen, and I don't think any Biden voters were listening.

Digitalalchemyst 6 points ago +6 / -0

I didn’t listen. I was at work and where I live is considered behind enemy lines. There are a lot of people who don’t like Trump but will vote for him. Other people had their own reasons not to listen but probably way more Trump voters didn’t listen than did. If anywhere near that amount of people listened then that is amazing.

Not all Trump voters listen to Rush but all Rush listeners are Trump voters.

ippwndu 1 point ago +1 / -0

You can stream it from many radio stations that carry his show, without signing up for anything.

50 Million? I hope its more but its probably a lot less; but still in the tens of millions plus then adding word of mouth, and replays or later streams...

50 million are just the people who took time to listen. Willing to be there is 40 million more of us who had other things to do or didn't know about this interview... MAGA has grown since 2016. Bigger than even the Dems can imagine. That little 60 million votes President Trump had in 2016 is nothing compared to what he's getting this time in my opinion.

5
Viewer01 5 points ago +5 / -0

I tuned in for at least half of it.

Jaybone86 4 points ago +4 / -0

I didn’t get a chance yet but I will be. And the wife and I will be for damn sure voting red all up and down the ballot.

Its one thing to assure the vote for Trump, but until we replace the dims and RINOs in congress, shit will not get done.

I listened to whole show while hiking in a state park with the fam.

I caught most of it at work. The airports have CNN but working people have Rush in their offices and worksites.

I didn't listen and neither did any of my friends. We're still all voting Trump. This is yuge.

The only way we can beat the cheating ass Dems is with a massive landslide to the point which they'd have to have more fake ballots than there are registered voters left.

1
redshortz44 1 point ago +1 / -0

Maybe half of them are voters?

2
ikuyas 2 points ago +2 / -0

Do you think teenagers listen to Rush? Also foreigners don't know about Rush Limbaugh. Many foreign students who have been in U.S. for several years don't know who that is. Most of them are voters.

1
MAGAMAN300 1 point ago +1 / -0

I say almost all of them are voters but MAGA has grown since 2016.. I won't be surprised if President Trump set elections records Next month because he is going to get way more votes next month that he did in 2016. So many votes that the dems and media will lose their minds. Next months I believe we're going to prove that we are the majority and the polls are fake.

I wonder if mostly men listen to radio? I'm hoping so. Maybe the true Trump numbers are closer to where I think they are: 125m+ votes for the greatest POTUS!
