Holy crap. Kind of embarrassed to admit this, but it just occurred to me that that semi-phonetic pidgin text you see isn't on purpose!
I'd always assumed that it was intentional (like wearing the baggy pants down around the thighs) just to come across as gangsta or whatever. I thought it was an act...
But no, that's for real? That's what they've got? Wow...
It's a way for ignorant people to express themselves without people constantly correcting them and making them look foolish. It's 100% intentional. I say that from experience. When I was young and just dialing out to boards and the early net it was very common for the younger crowd to type like morons. The older tech crowd hated us for it but put up with it because we were all computer nerds learning from each other.
