These kids are 80 IQ. Literally can't be taught academically. We need to be honest with ourselves as a nation, and clear a path to employment for this segment of the country. The illegals have taken all the low skill jobs that this sector once occupied. Clear out the illegals, so that this underserved segment has a way to make a living. They are Americans too.

Construction is an area where you can start with no skills and advance quickly if you work hard and want it. My drywall guy charges $100/hour and I gladly pay it. I'm a database analyst and I don't make that much per hour.

If there are people who truly can't be taught academically as claimed, these people should be taught trades beginning no later than 9th grade. Many people in the founding era only had an 8th grade education.

WHY? Why is the IQ so low in Compton? Surely a Bell curve is in play here. Is it really nurture?

Worth pointing out that an IQ of 80 would disqualify you from joining the army. There are people in the army who's job is it to clean toilets, and if you have an IQ of 80 you aren't smart enough to do that.

While they're no longer using a direct IQ test, their current requirements translate to an IQ or roughly 92.

In the army, everybody cleans toilets at some point. It's not a career billet.
The US military is a forced-pace meritocracy with decreasing retention quotas, and there are critical competencies for each step - all the way from throne-polisher to flag rank.

We need to remember that humans are a product of nature, and IQ plots on a curve, with natural outliers at each end. This is the human condition.

Progressive-'science'-ideologues would argue that IQ is racist, and we only need to raise these numerical scores to establish true equality.

Sounds like the minimum wage arguments, doesn't it?
