It really is a huge part of the parenting.

My family had to adopt FOUR kids from another relative, the oldest going through first grade for a second time. When asked why the oldest did not know their alphabet, they responded "The school teaches them that". 😐

The kids were like wild animals when we got them, and the oldest one is barely - BARELY starting to learn how to read now in his second year of first grade and the teachers are like "whatever". I was reading Apple computer manuals that were laying around the house at that age (seriously).

One of the kids has trouble with speech - however, the youngest who is not even old enough for pre-K, can read and nearly do math, simply because we got her so young and started helping her.

Also all of them are happily learning about Jesus, the USA and our President, things which they would not have gotten before. 😎
