I’m not sure why they don’t lie about it like they do everything else

A yes will alienate moderates and increase turnout by Republicans wanting to stop him. A no will lose enthusiasm by the far left who wants him to do it. Either answer loses him votes. Of course, telling people they don't deserve to know also doesn't look good, so he's basically cornered here. Trump should keep pushing it.

They need to delay taking a position until they get some poll numbers back.

Because saying they won't pack the court doesn't play well with the radical leftists, and they can't afford to lose their votes.

They want to have their cake and eat it too. The radical commies want the court packed and the normies that are brain washed by the MSM don’t want it packed.

If RBG would have died back in Feb it wouldn’t matter because the MSM would have time to brain wash the normies with 1000 stories like “Why having more SC justices is essential to our democracy” and “Top ten reasons the founders alway intended for there to be 13 justices on the Supreme Court”. There just isn’t enough time to brain wash the masses before the election.
