Lots of ways children can fight adults, they just need the maturity, training, and equipment to do so. Even up in Canada, most kids on the farms know how to shoot and how to drive by the time they're 13.
But even that isn't really necessary. Just educate and raise your kid. Keep open communication, and trust. Talk about their day. Keep an interest in their activities without being overbearing. Just that alone would fix 90% of the incidents.
