Culture matters. Because of bands and sports and some random friends, I have seen it up close and learned a little bit about "standard" black community culture, at least in the South. There is much to admire, but the greater part is really toxic and dangerous. It's amazing any youngster raised inside there makes it out to achievement - - when they do, there's 100 percent a super-strong based mom, dad, or most likely, grandma in the mix behind them who counteracts the bad influences that hold them down. Sure there is some extra difficulty crossing over, but most systems are set up now to pull up individuals with ambition.
