A close family member is refusing to vote at all, for anyone, because he has been convinced by someone/some group that voting doesn't do any good. He thinks the only solution is civil disobedience.

It sounds like even if he did vote, he would be left-wing supporter. I don't see the problem. One less vote for the Harris-Biden ticket.
Actually, no. He had been talking about the Libertarian ticket.
Either way. There is not much you can do if he chooses not to vote. Voting is a Right, not a requirement. I just tell people that don't exercise their Right To Vote to shut up. Because their opinions on political issues mean absolutely squat to me.
