The reason they won't answer, is because they are trying not to alienate their stupid voters who think they might actually do it. They know it's a fantasy, and they won't be able to do it, but they have to make their voters believe it's a possibility, so they might actually go out and vote. It they said "absolutely not", half of their voters would stay home. This is more pandering to the Bernie/AOC wing.
