Nice house. Why is it so hard to build them like that now? Interior design seems like most people should be able to figure it out themselves, but architects need to get better
Costs too much basically. They can be built like this again, just costs too much for most people. Ideally working hand and hand with a designer and architect is the way to go.
Personality I would rather save a house that's 125 years old than build new. I would save them all of I could.
True but we are supposedly wealthier now...and I don't think house materials or labor have gotten more expensive. It's probably because so few architects and builders can do it now so it's more expensive. It seems like everything is from developers who do stock plans and McMansions, or quirky houses from architects that don't look right. Universities need to do a better job teaching this stuff
Commercial and civic buildings have the same problem too. They all seem to build to around the latest trend instead of thinking about making something peopke would want to live around for 100+ years.
