Not going to armchair or play the justification game, but if the guy drew his gun on him and he responded with pepper spray, it was a stupid mistake/decision. Or vice versa, a Mexican standoff with pepper spray is an untenable position. It is what it is. Without going into who is right or wrong. If you have a gun pointed at someone and they spray you, you better have a plan for that gun/threat. Otherwise, when you get sprayed, be prepared to be disarmed and probably have your own gun used on you. I don't know how this all went down or escalated, but that is likely what happened. Both perceived threats, both acted and the superior force option "won" out. At the end of the day it was probably something that both could have avoided, but that's not for me to decide.
More details will have to come out on who was ultimately right/wrong, the aggressor and if either actions were reasonable and what options either had to deescalate.

This area is ALWAYS full of drugged out homeless people. Earlier this year I had one pull a knife on me in this exact spot. I put some distance between us then took a pic of him knife out and pants off. And sadly that wasn't even the first time I had a crazy ass homeless attack me downtown this year.
Antifa also hangs out in Cap Hill and they've been getting crazier and crazier lately. 2 weeks ago I was dropping someone off around 8pm on a weekday and ran into an antifa mob. I was going down a fairly random one way side street when they formed a line at a redlight. It was only me and 1 other vehicle at the light with almost no traffic out. They shined lights in my eyes so I couldn't see. The lights also blinded my dash cam so my video of the encounter kinda sucks. I legit thought I was being carjacked for a minute so I kept my gun ready and hidden just out of sight. They never tried to open my door, but they surrounded my car, shoved cameras in my face, and shouted stupid shit over and over for 15 fuckin minutes. I called the police but the response time is so bad the antifa assholes just walked off before they got there.
Denver, especially this area, is really bad right now. Get a concealed permit, carry a gun, and avoid downtown.
