LOL that's just Tim trying to appear "fair and balanced" by criticizing Trump occasionally.

Next week he'll brag in his unrelated videos about how he criticized Trump over the white house rallies just the other day, therefore "Look at me, I'm a fair and balanced centrist!"

He tries to appear to be a centrist because he thinks it improves his credibility. Except contrivances like this make him look even less credible. Everyone can see what he's doing. He's contorting himself to try and seem like a non-Trump supporter, when he's clearly a Trump supporter.

I think you're trying to read too much and too cynically into it.

62
el_ingobernable 62 points ago +69 / -7

Agreed, it is called intellectual honesty. If you go into an argument with the right answer without listening to the other side, you aren't being honest with yourself.

46
473X4ND3R 46 points ago +47 / -1

Also accusing Tim of arguing in bad faith completely destroys any base for discourse.

I believe Tim's political journey as we've witnessed it. I know many people who experienced pretty much the same. I was an apolitcal "borders are just imaginary lines man" - type of idiot some years ago.

Hijacking this comment to tell everyone to follow "Tim in Vegas" (the commenter in the screenie) if you still have the heart to fight on Twitter. He is a good guy.

We all were. The old saying.. if you're not liberal at 20 you're heartless..

Not conservative by 30 you're brainless.

18
Ih8leftists 18 points ago +18 / -0

I was heartless.

My senior quote in my high school yearbook was to build a wall and I graduated in 1997.

I mean, I was a pretty retarded liberal in college, but the "no borders" nonsense was so insane it forced me to reevaluate my political leanings. I just don't see how the average person can rationalize it.

0
DarkestMatt 0 points ago +2 / -2

I don't see how that makes any sense. You said if you go into an argument WITH THE RIGHT ANSWER. If you have the right answer, why do you have to listen to the other side in order to qualify as "honest"? I'm sure you've got some reason why it makes sense, but that reason probably makes as little sense as your original comment.

Beyond what u/PM_ME_UR_YARD_GIRL said, getting in an argument with the right answer and a way to argue for it, and ways to argue around or against the other side's arguments is a great way to convince onlookers.

Golden rule of debating a leftist: don't, because you won't change his or her mind. Exception of the Golden rule: if you have a crowd, your goal becomes to convince the crowd, and you can engage.

-2
0v3rKill -2 points ago +2 / -4

"Intellectual honesty" is a phrase made up by leftists and is absolutely nonsensical. Please stop using it.

3
Kyron 3 points ago +3 / -0

I do not think so. I have far more often seen intellectual honesty used to point out the massive hypocrisy of the left than by the left to attack those capable of using logic.

1
I_Used_to_be_me 1 point ago +2 / -1

Intellectual honesty or intellectual integrity, just like journalistic integrity, or historical literacy and/or integrity, are all very real terms, and things that the right posses and are able to call out the left on for lacking

Ben Shapiro is definitely hedging his bets. Tim is simply saying trump will win a normal election but he acknowledges the dems are cheating. He just doesn't know if the cheating will give Biden the edge he needs.

Yeah, that's way too much thinking for Timmy boy. He's just a professional fence sitter, that's his gig.

Watch if someone else brings up how some president 100 years ago said something along the lines of "nobody should host any parties at all here" and he'll reply with "oh, that's a good point actually".

It's the easiest thing to do. Agree with everyone that swings one way or the other and call it a day.

Seriously. I think that if somehow Donald Trump were kicked in the head and went full on Marxist in Term 2, we'd be the first ones calling for his head on a pike.

It's not some immutable quality that he would retain if his actions were different, it is specifically all the actions he does.

25

Well considering the left is going into histrionics calling him the "normie to 4chan pipeline" he must be doing something right.

He's not a politician so him selling out isn't really a bad thing. Ethically unsound, primarily to his fans, but if he didn't do this he wouldn't have many fans left since he'd be demonetized and broke with no show.

He is a classic liberal that leans pretty far left but loves the US because he has first hand experience at how much closer to perfection we are than the rest of the globe. He is rationally choosing to compromise his knee jerk reactionary response to openly risk his career by publicly advocating to vote for, in his view, an imperfect candidate as a defensive measure.

Not sure why that deserves ridicule or attacks from our side.

45
Kckroosian 45 points ago +45 / -0

I see him on here a lot. Is he influential at all?

26
deplorabetty 26 points ago +64 / -38

You'd think he walked on water the way some around here constantly suck his dick. He's just a businessman cashing in on the latest counterculture trend.

52
kmillz 52 points ago +56 / -4

What are you talking about? He gets crapped on all the time here. He is what he is, a milquetoast fence-sitter and people just need to accept that he isn't a conservative, just a moderate who supports Trump but wants to keep some of his liberal base placated.

34
vote_for_MAGA_2020 34 points ago +36 / -2

Yeah, I like watching Tim, but he’s still a liberal. I haven’t forgotten all the months he spent praising tulsi and Yang. He claims he doesn’t like them now because became “part of the establishment”. I’m sitting here thinking “not only have they been part of the establishment this whole time, they also support a lot of the things you rant against every day”.

Tim still supports abortion, tentatively supports UBI, and other liberal causes. But as long as he’s not praising those things, I can watch his videos no problem.

21
magabigleague2 21 points ago +21 / -0

I'm Asian but I never liked Yang. I was willing to listen and see what he was all about but hes a huge piece of shit that shits on Trump any chance he gets so fuck that guy.

11
Nonocon 11 points ago +11 / -0

He actually still likes tulsi.

22
NYC_4_Trump 22 points ago +22 / -0

I’ve been conservative for my entire life (late 20s.) It’s wild to have experienced being establishment and becoming counterculture when you never politically moved.

10
AngeredKabar 10 points ago +10 / -0

Heck I moved slightly left during the last election cycle because being the counter culture let me see how easily things I supported could be turned against me. I'm still not left leaning in the least.

But whatever the left has become, it's beyond insane.

Kosecant 9 points ago +10 / -1

He's a good guy, he's a liberal on a lot of stuff, but he's rational. The tweet above is an example of how he thinks. That first bit about him working about the norms of holding rallies at the white house, that's him being honest, that stuff worries him. But you throw him a rationalization that follows logic, like the guy at the bottom did, and Tim doesn't have a problem saying, oh your right, I wlmighr be wrong here. He's a good guy over all. Check it his podcast, Timcast. It's long but with a listen he had based people on a lot, rational thinkers as well.

8
red_xi 8 points ago +8 / -0

He's voting Trump and he's said so a gazillion times on his youtube videos. He also interrogated Twatter's Jack Dorshit and his satanist lawyer on JRE.

22

19
crimsonfancy 19 points ago +24 / -5

I know muh opinion is probably unpopular to some but the pool boy still hasn't convinced me he's 100% MAGA. Bandwagoner, yes. And his "aaaaacccctualllly" statements don't help his latest stance.
Some just can't come around and I get it. I'll never turn down any support or switcherooo but I honestly feel this guy leans toward whatever sells his channel more than he leans toward grassroots support for Trump.
Downvote my statements or whatever, I don't care at all. When Poo L shows he'll stand in line like I will for as long as it takes, I'll start hanging out with watching his shows more. In the meantime, I feel he's trying to play both sides and I don't like this kinda behavior.

22
Slothboy 22 points ago +23 / -1

Tim is very clear that he thinks of himself as a liberal. We're the ones who claim he's a closet conservative.

The thing I like about him is he is intellectually honest. Most of his videos are just him thinking out loud. He also seems to be willing to change his position when he hears a reasonable argument.

Anyway. I like him for what he is. Id rather listen to him than Ben shapiro any day.

1
crimsonfancy 1 point ago +1 / -0

Shapiro is least impressive compared to Pool because he knows better and still tries to play alternate sides.

15
CousinEddie 15 points ago +16 / -1

Tim spends 8 hours a day on the internet, then does a podcast about what he found.

Imagine spending 8 hours per day watching trump, 40+ hours per week, and you still don't get it. That is how insanely stupid Tim Pool is.

I have a full time job and shitpost on the side. I realized what trump was in 2015. Beanie Boy is still struggling, how anyone can listen to him is beyond words. He is a deft and slow as if comes.

I think you should dial it back a little bit. We don't need people to become hardcore conservatives right away. Tim has a massive audience of impressionable voters and he consistently exposes the fake news. He's gradually redpilling thousands while staying true to his brand. If you listen to him he is more unapologetic for supporting Trump as time goes on. Unbrainwashing people effectively and permanently takes time.

Laura Bush holds a Master's degree in Library Science and was instrumental in putting literacy programs all over the U.S. I don't really care about the Bush family. It's more that the left laughed and guffawed over ridiculing the entire Bush family about being illiterate when this has been the penultimate Bush family initiative for generations.

He's a former Occupy guy who then slid down the slope into becoming a dedicated fence sitter to try and make an excuse he wasn't becoming an adult.

He's the crab-in-a-bucket redpill. He won't admit his views have/are changing until he generally gains more support in that regard. But in a way this makes him more effective, as he still has to try.

Compare with Rubin who is more of the typical love-bomb convert. Take part of a redpill and just see the Right is not insane and then be too eager taking more redpills.
