Precisely. The popularity of talk radio is a symptom, not the cause of why people are turning away from leftist ideology. It represents people turning off the major networks and tuning into the radio stations that the mainstream hasn't taken control of since they abandoned it in the 60s.
They control Hollywood, the news, social media, education, music, and most print media. Conservatives have carved out a small slice of talk radio and they lose their minds. Fucking commies won't be happy without complete control of everything.
They've been trying to silence conservative radio for DECADES. Remember the fairness doctrine I think it was? They tried to use it to cram liberalism into conservative radio while denying that every TV outlet was anything but biased leftism.
Conservative radio works because people want to hear it. When the left tries to do radio, it fails or has such a small audience it can't gain traction.

Because you can listen to it WHILE YOU ARE WORKING. Twitter, FB, Instagram, Youtube etc. you cant work while looking at it. Conservatives arent becoming conservative BECAUSE of talk radio, talk radio is talk radio because Conservatives listen to it.

Op-ed author is a Cato Institute lolbertarian. That is, from reading the review quotes on his site, I think the ladies and gentlemen here may find the book he's selling to be a mixed bag--but at least he claims to have dug up some fresh dirt on things Dem presidents have done to suppress radio.
Headlines, however, are written by editors. So bear in mind it's probably not accurate to the author's point (they've gotten away with this for decades, knowing most readers don't read most articles); his book's title alone should be your first hint.
When driving down the road in my old work truck I use to go to the hardware store, sometimes I like to pluck through the on- air stations to see what is going on. There are 50 Spanish speaking stations, a dozen rap stations that play heavily censored songs that don’t appeal to me, a couple of inspirational Christian stations that play different versions of a song written by cold-play, and talk radio. I usually stick with talk radio because the other stations are just constant ads about hamburgers,shoes, and BLM.
Music in 2020 is dead. Cardi-B and lefty country singers have driven the nail into the radio
