I'm furious.

She just had surgery for a bowel problem she's suffered from for a few years now. At some point following the surgery as she was recovering she had an allergic reaction to something they gave her and began struggling to breathe, coupled with lifelong asthma this was a red alert situation and doctors and nurses rushed to her from all over the hospital.

While they were working one nurse apparently spoke up and said, "Wait, has she been tested for covid?"

Everyone immediately jumped away as if she was waving a gun in their face or something, and some 12 doctors and nurses just sat watching her gasping for air for several minutes while someone sauntered over to some admin desk to see if she was clear. A dozen health professionals dressed head to toe in what basically amount to hazmat suits were deathly afraid of a 70 year old woman.

Of course she was bloody tested, they'd performed surgery on her the day before, but I guess they decided they had to double check. Finally they did get confirmation and began helping her again but the more I think about this the more angry I become. They were going to watch this poor woman die because nobody thought logically about the situation.

I'm so fucking done with this dangerous panic surrounding this stupid virus. I understand doctors need to be careful since they see so many patients with comorbidities but fuck, she was already admitted in the hospital and had surgery, why didn't they know if she'd been tested?

Unbelievable. I pray your mother is doing better. There is no excuse for this to happen - anyone who has a procedure or surgery has to get covid tested. This must have been incredibly frightening.
