I suspect Kim is predicting problems in China and wants to have a solid ally to prevent any of the local powers from stepping in on him. With the US in his corner he has much less to fear from South Korea and Japan. Neither is likely to move on him without US support.
I doubt Trump would pick North Korea over the rest, of course, but making sure that, when China pulls support, he has a line of negotiation with the other major power in the region is a smart move.
Yeah I feel like China is about to make a move for Taiwan and I'm not sure Kim thinks that will be good for North Korea, they will become a lot more expendable to China at that point, i.e., if China continues their expansion on from Hong Kong to Taiwan next, North Korea would become the next easiest target to conquer.
And there are those rumors about Kim's sister trying to take control as well.
I am not sure this is that positive, Moon Jae-in wants to join the communist North, he talked a lot about it during the recent election.
I realize not many people give a shit about Korea and their domestic politics, I don't personally either but I follow China very closely and it overlaps a great deal.
The fear is a unified Korea would come under China's influence and we would lose a country from our sphere rather than gain one.
I couldn't imagine that ever happening. Not with what China are doing to Hong Kong, and are threatening against Taiwan. President Trump has highlighted a lot of benefits that going over to the Western way of governing things would bring for North Korea.
South Korea have seen all the benefits of what following a free market based system has provided. North Korea too, else they wouldn't be talking about Peace.
If I was going to worry about anything, it would be a unified Korea making mischief with Japan.
5th nobel nom incoming
The best part is Trump gives two fucks about them!

If China runs short of food, N. Korea will get cut off first.
Kim does not want to see his people starve. Good on him.

Peace thru strength. He does not want to appear weak.
He might see it more as Demonstrating Value. SK depends on us for defense.
This might be the first time I've ever seen "NK intel" as a thing. If they have known, and have withheld it, that won't look very good on them.
Hard to trust anything on TikTok - Chinese propaganda.
Best Korea does do crowds the best
But we should emulate Worst Korea and bring a million plus torch wielding citizens to the capital to oust corruption if the dems rig the election
Any other sources for this?
This. I also predicted this path to reunification, way back when GEOTUS and KJU were tweet fighting. This is how Trump leads, negotiates, WINS!
